Here's a conversation we'd love to make more normal:
“Could Direct Primary Care be part of our employee benefits?”
If you work for a local business, nonprofit, professional office, trade company, startup, or small organization, your employer may be looking for new ways to support employee health and retention.
They may simply not know DPC is an option.
Direct Primary Care can be structured so employers sponsor or contribute toward employee memberships, giving employees easier access to everyday primary care.
And sometimes change starts with one employee asking one simple question.
You don't need to be the HR director.
You don't need to know exactly how the benefit would work.
You can simply say:
“I heard about Direct Primary Care. Is that something our company has ever looked into?”
We'll help with the rest.

For many adults ages 21–64, Compass Health DPC membership is $90 per month.
But here's an important distinction:
You're not paying $90 for one appointment.
You're paying for an ongoing primary care relationship.
That means your membership isn't just valuable on the day you come into the office.
It's there when:
You wake up feeling sick.
You have a question about a medication.
A lab result doesn't make sense.
Your blood pressure has been creeping up.
You need help managing a chronic condition.
You realize you're overdue for preventive care.
Or something simply doesn't feel right.
Traditional healthcare often teaches us to think about healthcare one transaction at a time.
Appointment → bill.
Test → bill.
Follow-up → bill.
Direct Primary Care asks us to think differently.
What is it worth to have primary care available when you need it?
That's the conversation behind the membership.

When you're running a small business, every benefit decision matters.
You want to take care of your employees.
You want to attract good people.
You want to keep the team you already have.
But traditional healthcare benefits can feel complicated — and expensive.
Direct Primary Care gives small employers another option to explore.
Rather than thinking only about insurance, an employer may choose to sponsor or contribute toward a DPC membership that gives employees access to everyday primary care.
That can mean:
• Predictable membership costs
• Convenient access to primary care
• No copays for covered DPC visits
• More opportunity to address health concerns early
• A benefit employees can use all year
It doesn't necessarily replace every other healthcare benefit.
Instead, it can become part of a broader benefits strategy.
And sometimes a smaller company can offer a surprisingly valuable healthcare experience by thinking differently.

Changes in energy, sleep, mood, concentration, body composition, and overall wellbeing can have many possible causes.
And sometimes, hormones may be part of the picture.
Compass Health DPC offers bioidentical hormone replacement therapy as an additional service for appropriate patients.
The important part isn't jumping immediately to treatment.
It's looking at the bigger picture.
Your symptoms.
Your health history.
Your goals.
Your lab results.
And other factors that may be contributing to how you feel.
Because “I'm just getting older” shouldn't automatically be the end of the conversation.
If something feels different, it's okay to ask why.

Maybe your knee has been bothering you.
Maybe you're more tired than usual.
Maybe your medication doesn't seem to be working quite right.
Maybe there's a symptom you've been Googling for three weeks.
But you haven't scheduled an appointment because:
“It's probably nothing.”
“I don't want another bill.”
“I don't have time.”
“I'll bring it up at my next physical.”
This is one of the conversations Direct Primary Care can change.
When your primary care relationship is built around a monthly membership instead of paying every time you walk through the door, reaching out can feel very different.
Not every question needs an emergency room.
Not every concern needs a specialist.
Sometimes you simply need access to a primary care provider who has time to listen and help you figure out the next step.
You shouldn't have to save up your health questions.

You may already have benefits through your employer.
Health insurance.
Dental.
Vision.
Retirement.
But here's one benefit you might not have heard much about yet:
Direct Primary Care.
Some employers choose to offer or help cover DPC memberships for employees, giving their team access to primary care through a predictable membership model.
Imagine being able to:
✔ Reach your primary care provider when you have a question
✔ Schedule care without worrying about a copay for every visit
✔ Have more time to discuss what's actually going on
✔ Address health concerns before they become bigger problems
✔ Build an ongoing relationship with a provider
For employees, that can mean easier access to everyday healthcare.
And for employers, it can mean offering a benefit people can actually use throughout the year.
If you work for a small business — or you're the person who makes benefit decisions — Direct Primary Care deserves a place in the conversation.

Flights booked. Hotel reserved. Passport ready.
But have you thought about your health before you travel?
Travel medicine counseling is one of the additional services available through Compass Health DPC.
Depending on where you're traveling, your health history, medications, planned activities, and length of stay, there may be important health considerations to discuss before you leave.
That could include conversations about:
✈️ Travel-related health risks
💊 Your current medications
🌎 Destination-specific considerations
🩺 Existing health conditions
🧳 What to pack in your travel health kit
It is another example of what we mean when we talk about having a primary care provider who can help you think proactively, not just react when you're sick.
Your healthcare should travel with you — even before you leave Durham.

Yes — and this is one of the biggest misconceptions we hear about Direct Primary Care.
Joining Compass Health DPC doesn't mean you necessarily have to give up your health insurance.
Think of the two as serving different purposes.
Your Compass membership is designed for the healthcare you use regularly:
✔ Preventive care
✔ Sick visits
✔ Chronic condition management
✔ Follow-up care
✔ Health questions
✔ Routine primary care
✔ Ongoing access to a provider who knows you
Insurance can still be there for larger or unexpected medical expenses like hospitalization, specialty care, surgeries, emergencies, and other services outside of your DPC membership.
Direct Primary Care simply changes how you access and pay for primary care.
Instead of wondering what every office visit will cost, members pay a predictable monthly membership fee and can use their primary care relationship when they actually need it.
Healthcare doesn't have to be either/or.
Sometimes a better question is:
“What combination gives me the access and protection I need?”

One of the biggest differences with Direct Primary Care is that the cost of your primary care doesn't have to be a mystery.
At Compass Health DPC, membership pricing is based on age:
Ages 11–20: $60/month
Ages 21–64: $90/month
Ages 65+: $105/month
There is also a one-time $50 enrollment fee.
Your membership includes unlimited provider visits with no copays, deductibles, or hidden visit fees.
And yes — you can still keep health insurance.
Many DPC members use their Compass membership for their everyday primary care while maintaining insurance for things like specialists, hospitalizations, emergencies, and other major medical needs.
It's a different way to think about healthcare: predictable primary care costs + a provider relationship you can actually use.
