I've been thinking about how I've grown into a leadership role. Most of my leadership skills were gained through a lot of trial and error (sometimes I wish less error, but that's how we learn, right?), combined with observing leaders whose abilities I admired. It's been a very hands-on, learn-as-I-go experience.

Taking an interest in people is what it's all about, no matter what field you're in!

I can't be an effective developer if I don't know anything about the people and the I'm working for; it's only when I listen, recognize the pain points, and work on creating solutions that actually speak to a need that I make anything worth using.
