Double the seniors, double the love! 🐾 Meet Tommy and Charlie, two incredible senior gentlemen looking for their forever couches.

While they don’t necessarily have to be adopted together, these two sweethearts prove that senior cats have the absolute best personalities.

🐱 Tommy (The Gentle Giant):
Tommy is a sweet, easy-going lovable guy who is just a little bit shy at first, but warms up in a flash. He’s on the larger side, which just means there is more of him to love! He is the ultimate companion—happy to lounge by a window watching the neighborhood "TV," bat around little toys, or crawl right into your lap for some affection. If you want a quiet, loyal buddy, Tommy is your guy.

🐱 Charlie (The Fearless Super Senior):
Charlie may be a super senior (and perhaps a little hard of hearing), but he has the spirit of a kitten! This fearless boy knows absolutely no strangers and will greet you with adorable trills and enthusiastic tail shakes—especially if you have a Churu treat handy! He is a professional snuggler who loves sleeping right beside you (or on you) and is such a trooper he’ll hop right into his carrier, ready for his next adventure.

Both of these boys are affectionate, easy-going, and so ready to find a home to grace with their golden-years wisdom.

BREAKING NEWS: Local cats have announced they're tired of paying rent in foster homes.

Their demands include:
🐟 Unlimited snacks
🛋️ Premium napping surfaces
☀️ At least one sunbeam per day
❤️ A human who thinks they're adorable

You can negotiate with them in person at our cat adoption event this Saturday, June 6, from 12–3 PM at Unleashed in Durham. Fair warning: they are experienced in emotional manipulation and may convince you that your home has been missing a cat this entire time.

See you there. The cats have prepared their cutest faces.

Shift’s official stance on : “pls come hug me (but also give me b***y pets).” 🐈‍⬛✨

This gorgeous gray and white cutie started out on the streets, but she’s officially traded the rough life for cozy sunbeams and quiet companionship. Shift is a sweet, curious, and slightly shy "personal gargoyle" who loves to perch nearby and supervise your day.

When she's not being a quiet observer, she’s a playful little sprite chasing sunbeams or showing her love by rubbing against your legs. Earning her trust is pure magic, and she’s so ready to blossom in a forever home.

OtterBear and Phoenix both came to IAR needing someone to believe in them.

OtterBear, a former feral tomcat with a rough past, first came into our care after being trapped with a severe head wound. Initially intended to be a short-term foster while he recovered, he slowly revealed himself to be an enormous sweetheart beneath his tough exterior - purring loudly, seeking affection, and learning to trust after years of surviving on his own. Phoenix, on the other hand, entered IAR as a young puppy after being surrendered to a shelter, full of curiosity and sweetness but still learning to feel confident and secure in the world around her.

Somehow, these two rescue animals found their way to the very same family, where they quickly became the best of friends. OtterBear now happily steals Phoenix’s bed (which she graciously allows), Phoenix greets him with a special “hyperwiggle” tail wag, and the two spend their days cuddling, grooming one another, and rarely choosing to spend time apart.

We love all happy endings, but there is something extra special about watching two rescued animals find comfort and friendship in one another. Happiest of tails to OtterBear and Phoenix and the family who opened their hearts to them both 🥹💚

Tiny but mighty

Mini may be the runt of the litter, but she definitely knows how to keep up with the big dogs! With her sweet little face, gentle personality, and just the right amount of sass, she’s impossible not to love. Whether she’s wrestling with her siblings, showing off her spunky side, or curling up for snuggles, Mini brings so much joy everywhere she goes. She fully believes she was meant to be a purse dog

Mini and her siblings were born in IAR’s care after their stray mom was rescued. She is currently receiving her puppy vaccinations, is microchipped, and will be spayed when age-appropriate.
