Facilitated by Ava Johnson, LCMHC, and Samara Domanski, LCMHC, the Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents Process Group will run for 8 consecutive weeks on Saturdays from 10AM-11:30PM beginning June 27, 2026. The cost is $400 ($50/session).

This group utilizes the work of Lindsay Gibson (ā€œAdult Children of Emotionally Immature Childrenā€) to support participants in understanding the complexity of parent/child relationships and begin healing from dysfunctional relationship dynamics with emotionally immature parents.

This will be a process group where participants will have the opportunity to gain psychoeducation and discuss personal experiences text.

At each meeting we will be reviewing the assigned chapter and hold group discussions based on discussion prompts, activities, and personal experiences. Participants will benefit from hearing the experiences of others working on similar and different dynamics within their relationships, and by sharing parts of their own experiences. Reading and discussing this book in a group setting will allow for deeper understanding of the material, ample examples of different relationship dynamics, and the opportunity to ask questions about the material with the therapists facilitating the group.

By the end of the 8 weeks, participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of:

- what an emotionally immature parent may look like
- how an emotionally immature parent's behavior may have influenced childhood experiences
- more effective strategies for navigating difficult communication

The group will explore the differences between harmful and healthy relationship dynamics and participants will walk away with a toolkit of strategies for building healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

If you or your loved one is living with HIV, we want your feedback to help us design the group so that it's as accessible and supportive as possible for those aging with HIV in our community. This initial meeting will lay the groundwork for future meetings, which we hope will provide a safe space for elders with lived experience to form friendships and receive support.
This meeting is open to persons living with HIV as well as partners and caregivers.

Participants living with HIV will receive a $25 Food Lion gift card; all attendees in person will be served a free meal.

An experienced social worker will be present at this and future meetings to provide information about support services for those living with HIV.

Express interest in joining us on June 6th by filling out this form:

✨ We started our psychiatry program in 2023 after struggling ourselves to find psychiatric medication management that was accessible, accepted a wide range of insurance plans, and aligned with our values. Too often, patients faced long wait times, cash only practices and other barriers to care.

When we opened our psychiatry department, our goal was simple: to provide high-quality psychiatric care with as few barriers as possible. While we’re still working toward everything we want to offer and all we hope for in psychiatry, we’ve made meaningful progress.

✨ We are now in-network with nearly every Medicaid plan (10 total), more than 9 commercial insurance plans, and 5 plans offered through the ACA Marketplace.✨ We are enrolling patients all across North Carolina from Cherokee to Lumberton with sessions available virtually and in person in Durham (and soon Chapel Hill). We offer daytime and evening appointments.

We also want to be transparent. Over the past few months, wait times for new patients have been longer than we want, and our response times haven’t always met our own standards. We know this can be frustrating, and we appreciate your patience as we’ve been actively working to improve. šŸ™šŸ½

We’re excited to share that we’ll be welcoming new psychiatric medication management providers and expanded support staff in the coming months. This will help us reduce wait times, expand access to care and improve communication overall.

Thank you for trusting us and allowing us to continue growing alongside you. 🌈

Please join us for a festival celebrating q***r and trans healthcare, movement and somatics, trans and nonbinary musicians, local makers and artists.

Spring is in full bloom and we are well into Aries season. In collaboration with Dormant Plant Parlor and YOU, Radical Healing will co-create a generative Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 26th from 12pm - 4pm (please note some speakers and workshops begin at 10AM).

We have over 90 incredible artists, healing practitioners, artists, authors, astrologists, musicians, food trucks, speakers and of course, the one and only Stormie Daie, Durham’s beloved drag queen superstar.

We recognize that the urgent challenges facing our planet and communities often have the most devastating effects on those who are already vulnerable. During this turbulent start to the year, we are hoping to co-create our event with your care and support so we may resource and resist in community.

While we are raising funds for Siembra NC and Rainbow Collective for Change, this event is entirely free - everyone is invited to come gather and share resources, find the support they need, and leave empowered with tools that uplift individuals, families, communities, and Earth herself.

With love,

Radical Healing x Dormant Plant Parlor

PS: If you’re an organization or artist that celebrates community and practices radical inclusion, please connect and join us! If you can’t attend the event, but would like us to help promote your work, please connect with us so we can share your resources.

If you’re a community member or neighbor that would like to help make our event a success, please write [email protected]. We need volunteers to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely!

PPS: During the weekends of April 19 and April 26, organizations around Lakewood Durham will be hosting back to back weekends of Earth Day Events to showcase connection, affirmation, community, and collective care! Follow us on IG to learn more about our great neighborhood offerings!
