Triangle Community Foundation
We are building a stronger Triangle for all.
By working with dedicated donors and strong nonprofits, we guide gifts in a strategic way that fills in gaps, reduces inequities, and solves the region’s most pressing issues.

As the Triangle continues to grow, communities across the region are searching for new ways to improve housing affordability -including renewed interest in the “Missing Middle.”
This historic housing model includes smaller-scale multi-unit homes that fall between single-family houses and large apartment complexes. Once common in older neighborhoods, many of these housing types largely disappeared due to decades of zoning restrictions. Today, Triangle area cities are revisiting this approach as they look for ways to expand housing choices, support affordability, and create more connected communities.
In our latest blog, we explore the “Missing Middle” and the challenges and opportunities surrounding this growing movement in our region: https://trianglecf.org/the-missing-middle-in-triangle-housing/
At What Matters on June 3 we are convening leaders across public and private sectors to address housing affordability in the Triangle. Housing affordability is one of the most significant challenges facing the Triangle, and meaningful progress will take all of us.
Next Wednesday, June 3, at What Matters: Housing Affordability, local leaders, housing experts, community members and changemakers will convene to explore ideas, build connections, and discuss how we can shape a more affordable future for our region.
Stay tuned to our channels for all the updates.
A healthy housing system must provide appropriate options across all levels of need and income. As we near What Matters, in partnership with Capitol B, we are thrilled to launch an exciting tool on our Housing Affordability webpage of the housing continuum, a framework for visualizing the entire housing ecosystem. We invite you to engage with this new feature to deepen your knowledge about each category of the housing continuum and nonprofit organizations providing support.
Additionally, we have updated this page with stories from fellow neighbors here in the Triangle as well as key regional data. Click the following link to check it out: https://trianglecf.org/impact/housingaffordability/
