Your very own Marcella Thompson won the Keeper of the Dream award for Durham, NC!
:: Congratulations to Marcella Thompson for being selected for the 2021 Keeper of the Dream Award. Ms. Thompson is the Executive Director of the Mustard Seed Project.
The Keeper of the Dream Award is a public recognition of individuals, organizations, or institutions for outstanding leadership and/or service to improve the quality of life for all citizens and work toward racial equality, human rights, peace and economic justice for all people.
In East Durham, Ms. Thompson brings neighborhood kids together with fun and food. She started the Mustard Seed Project in her southeast Durham community, mentoring and feeding 35 to 40 kids per day since 2019 on her fixed income.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ms. Thompson grocery shops, cooks and packs bags of food for more than 100 families every day.
