November ended and December began with respiratory junk for this mommy, which means I feel behind on most things Christmas.

Tree hunting and decorating. Winter milkshakes and homemade coco. Gift buying, wrapped presents, and cookie baking, just to name a few.

And then, as Tyler emptied the dishwasher, I was reminded of what matters most. He held a fave coffee mug that read “Raising Autistic Disciples,” and in that quiet moment, everything came back into focus.

There’s nothing more important in this season, or in any other, than sharing the gospel with him.

I imagine all the festive things will happen…maybe not on my timeline, maybe not how I planned, but they will. And if not, that’s okay too (gasp).

May our eyes stay fixed on what matters most: Jesus.

May our days be lived in such a way that my autistic, epileptic, DYRK1A son sees Him, knows Him, and follows Him always.

Some traditions never change. For a lifetime, they’ve been chasing the perfect Christmas tree. The hunt may look different now, but the joy it brings hasn’t!
