Her passing will be felt by so many in the rescue world, so sad, 💔😢 ….. Mary was instrumental in so many of our rescues at Jack’s Furrytail Rescues , she helped me numerous times with strays on my FedEx route in Sanford/Broadway….. she will be missed greatly 😢💔
It is with a very heavy heart that we share the sad news that our fearless lead and founder of LPAH, Mary has passed away.
Mary was an incredible force for animals and made a lasting impact on rescue efforts throughout Lee County, NC. Her dedication, compassion, and tireless work helped save countless lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and worked alongside her.
We are committed to continuing LPAH that Mary and her husband, Ed worked so hard to build. We believe the best way to honor her legacy is to carry on the mission she cared so deeply about.
At this time, we are currently seeking two-week temporary foster homes with no other pets to help some of the animals Mary and Ed lovingly cared for. If you can open your home for just 14 days, please complete an application at LPAH.org/foster.
If you would like to donate in Mary’s memory, you can visit LPAH.org/donate.
Thank you for your continued support of the rescue during this difficult time.

🚨💔 EMERGENCY FOSTER NEEDED FOR GRACIE TODAY 💔🚨
Located in Newport News.
Im BEGGING!!
I truly don't know what else to do.
Gracie was returned to our rescue after four years in a home, and today she has nowhere to go.
Her current foster can no longer keep her, and despite multiple posts and shares, we have not found another foster. We thought we had a committed foster lined up, but after hearing about Gracie's fearful behavior, they decided they won’t keep her any longer!
The reality is that Gracie is not aggressive—she is terrified. She has lost the only home she knew for four years, and her entire world has been turned upside down. She needs time, patience, and a quiet place to feel safe again.
At this point, my only option may be to put her in a dog crate in my frog room. While it's better than nowhere, it's far from ideal, and I would also need a window air conditioner because that room gets extremely hot during the day.
We're not asking for a whole house. We're not asking for a long-term commitment.
We're asking for one spare bedroom where Gracie can decompress.
Please, if you can help Gracie today, reach out immediately. We are completely out of options, and this sweet girl deserves so much better than a crate after losing her home.
Hampton Roads area only.
