Lots of greens, tomatoes, and onions.

We really haven't wanted to talk about it, but a few weeks ago raccoons got into our coop and massacred most of our chickens and injured our ducks. After losing our guard dog last year, we knew the animals were vulnerable. Now we have electrified the coop and fence and reinforced the coop hatches. We set up a camera, and while we haven't seen the culprits themselves, we've seen plenty of other critters around the barnyard. Sometimes farming is tough.

Garlic harvest, successfully grafted apple tree, and rain for the garden.

Fencing and planting continues. We finished the other side of the pasture fence and started work on planting trees (including Arkansas Black and Tom Putt heritage apples) along another soon-to-be fenceline.

The garden mostly survived last week's frosts and is producing gorgeous lettuce; we made progress on a fencing project to get the sheep out on pasture.

Very busy on the farm - planting bushes and trees, new garden beds for a larger corn/squash/bean plot, fence building, and pasture irrigation. Taking the time along the way to enjoy the fruits (or vegetables, in the case of rhubarb) of our labors and catch various pond denizens.

Sometimes farming is hard. Our forecast said 34 for last night, so we expected it could drop to mid 20s, but woke up to 18 degrees. All our beautiful blooming fruit trees got zapped hard. Ugh.

It's beautiful right now on the farm with all the flowering fruit trees and shrubs! Honeybees, bumblebees, moths, hummingbirds, and butterflies have been busy visiting all the flowers. Spring is here! ❤️

Shearing, social-distancing style! Seems like a nice harvest.

Getting the last of the carrots out of the garden before the ground freezes. 22lbs just today!
