Located directly across highway 550 from the Purgatory Ski Resort entrance, the home backs up to a designated federal wetland and is only 24 miles north of downtown Durango (less than a 30 minute drive). The home is part of the resort so you have access to free on-demand shuttle service to the ski lifts but since it is across the road you enjoy the privacy and additional space a townhome affords (it’s part of a duplex) with a backyard and two-car garage. At 8,900 feet of elevation, the home is a gateway to an amazing winter playground and also serves as the perfect summer retreat, with a million acres of national forest land at your doorstep offering all your favorite mountain activities. It’s only a few steps down to Twilight Lake for fishing and paddle boarding and an even shorter walk the Purgatory Flats Trailhead, one of the most scenic hikes in the San Juan Mountains. Horseback riding, jeep trails, an alpine slide, and the Purgatory Inferno Mountain Coaster are all less than 5 minutes from the home or drive into Durango for shopping, white water rafting and a ride on the iconic Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Come home and roast marshmallows in the backyard firepit under the summer stars before relaxing in the hot tub with a view of Engineer Mountain. 4WD is NOT required to access this home in the winter.
