Wednesday nights in Durango have something going on all summer, and tonight is no exception. The True Western Roundup takes place every Wednesday evening at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, and if you have never watched professional bull riders do what they do while the San Juan Mountains sit quietly in the distance, this evening is the night to change that.

It is spirited, authentic, and the kind of event that reminds you why small towns with big mountains occupy their own category entirely. Grab dinner first, maybe at the Diamond Belle Saloon or 11th Street Station, then head over and settle in.

Western heritage does not get much more real than this. The True Western Roundup runs every Wednesday evening at the La Plata County Fairgrounds through the end of summer. It starts tonight.

Stay close to all of it this summer. https://hubs.ly/Q04jrzxy0

45 minutes to Mesa Verde National Park. 10 minutes to downtown Durango and the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. 6 miles to a riverside trail that follows the Animas River straight into the heart of town.

Oscar's Cafe, the Diamond Belle Saloon, and 636 just a short drive in the other direction. This is what it means to stay somewhere that places you at the center of everything worth doing in the Colorado Southwest, without ever making you feel like you are caught up in the noise of it.

Durango RV Resort is a quiet home base for one of the most storied corners of the American West. Everything else radiates out from here.

She drove in on a Sunday night after a twelve-hour shift, tired in the specific way that only comes with back-to-back days in a hospital, and not entirely sure what she was walking into. But once the site was set up and she finally sat down, something settled.

The trees. The quiet. The air that smelled nothing like the place she had been all day.

She was booked for three months on assignment near Durango. By the end of week two, she knew her neighbors by name. By the end of month one, she said it was the most rested she had felt in years. This is what a monthly stay at Durango RV Resort does for people who need somewhere that actually feels like a home. We are proud of that.

Here is a Durango RV Resort summer day, as reported by several guests who have actually lived it: morning coffee at the site, a few hours on a trail, lunch at Oscar's Cafe, back to the pool by three, a round of mini golf before the air cools down, a game of pool to cool off, and then back to the site for the best part of every summer evening, doing nothing in particular while the mountains take care of the scenery.

Every one of those amenities is included. No extra charges, no wristbands, no reservations needed. Bring yourself and your people. Summer in the San Juans has a rhythm to it. We set this place up so you can actually keep up with it.

Come live a day like this. https://hubs.ly/Q04gmCSF0

Memorial Day weekend kicked off at Durango RV Resort exactly the way summer should. Loud, sun-soaked, and a little tropical.

The pool deck filled up Saturday night for our Luau Pool Party. Hamburgers and hot dogs off the grill with all the fixins, cocktails going around, hula moves from kids and grown-ups alike, and the heated pool finally open after a long winter wait.

The kind of evening that reminds you why you picked this spot for the summer.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made it feel like a real celebration. The pool is open all season. We are just getting started.

One of the things we hear most from guests who have been here a while is that they did not expect to feel so taken care of.

Our on-site team is available every day to answer questions, share their personal favorite restaurant picks, help you find the trail that matches your energy level, or simply talk through how to make the most of a free afternoon in Durango.

Extending your stay is as easy as a phone call or a text. We know what it feels like to plan a trip and then realize you are not ready to leave. We keep the door open for that moment. If this is your first time here, come ready to be known by name. That is how we do things.

When you are ready to stay, we will be here. https://hubs.ly/Q04gmQSz0

The smell of bacon at 7am has a way of pulling a whole resort out of bed.

Saturday morning was a full spread. Waffles, pancakes, scrambled and fried eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, ham, potatoes, bagels, bread, muffins, and yogurt. Plates piled high, coffee going around, neighbors trading trail tips and weekend plans across the table.

This is the stuff that turns an RV site into a stay you remember.

Mark your calendar. Our next community breakfast is Saturday, June 27th from 7 to 10am. Bring an appetite. Bring a friend. We will handle the rest.

Some of the best days in Durango start with a tired pair of legs and a little nudge.

Two days downtown, a long ride on the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge, and the chairs outside your site start looking very convincing. We get it. But ask anyone at the front desk and they will point you toward the Animas River Trail. About six miles of river walk straight into town, with a cold drink at 11th Street Station waiting on the other end.

Boots get dusty. The sun drops behind the San Juans. You come back already talking about next spring.

That is a Durango day. Your basecamp is ready when you are. https://hubs.ly/Q04f4xWn0

Last week around the firepit was exactly what camp season is all about!

Campers pulled up their chairs, poured their drinks, and gathered together under the Colorado stars for an evening of s'mores, good conversation, and that perfect mountain warmth that you just cannot find anywhere else. 🍫⭐

Watching our guests connect, laugh, and make memories together on just the second night of camp season was the best reminder of why we love what we do. This is what the basecamp is all about.

If you missed it, do not worry. The firepit is always here and there are plenty more nights like this one ahead. Summer just got started! 🏕️
