The Palumbos' stewardship of the Kentuck K**b property contributed their own landscaping, including Kousa dogwood (cornus kousa) with beautiful white bloom early summer.

In the early 1950s when Kentuck K**b was built, it was unusual for citizens of Uniontown to move to the mountainous countryside unlike today when many newlyweds or young families seek out open spaces after compact city living.
The spot where the house was eventually built had been farmed and partially timbered. The view from the hillside has an expansive landscape of the Youghiogheny Gorge and the Chestnut Ridge. The lands appear to extend infinitely beyond the horizon giving a sense of freedom and connection to the natural world.

Wright's original plans for the proportions of the house were for Mr. and Mrs. Hagan, since they would be the only ones living there full time. At their request, Wright made revisions directly on the sketch to add two units and lengthen the living room.
No matter the number of visitors, the large expanse of the living room can be felt with the combination of the flagstone, tidewater red cypress, and Pottsville sandstone.
