The FTC has reported that many people are falling victim to a virtual child kidnapping imposter scam. It begins with a call from someone claiming to have kidnapped a child in your family and the scammer then demands money. You may even hear sounds of a child in distress in the background. If you get a call like this do not send money. Check on the child's safety directly and then report the call to the FTC.
