The YAPPERS consist of students from Dubuque Senior, Hempstead, and Wahlert High Schools that work to address the needs of youth in the Greater Dubuque area.
A youth-led program empowering local high school students in the Dubuque community through volunteerism, philanthropy, and grantmaking that creates real impact. Their energy and focus is directed to three major projects/areas: A local youth-needs assessment, a full grant-making cycle, and the Empty Bowls Project (a youth poverty awareness and fundraising campaign). The grants are issued to local non-profit organizations that conduct programs which serve Dubuque youth.

Today was a meaningful milestone for the Yappers! After 7 months of fundraising with local businesses, froyo shops, college athletic events, and generous donors, we raised $12,000 for four nonprofit organizations!
Today, we held our big check presentation, distributing funds to St. Mark Enrichment Center and Hills & Dales as part of that total.
As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Yappers, we’re grateful for the opportunity to give back and make a lasting impact in our community.

Last Wednesday, Yappers hosted a bake sale at Loras College during the men’s and women’s basketball games. With over 15 Yappers participating, we shared our purpose while providing the community with baked treats!

Back in December, Yappers volunteered at Pizza Ranch for an evening of serving the community and sharing our mission of giving back to local non-profits!
