The Stranger Reduction Zone is a community engagement, public sculpture that is designed to help break down anonymity and artificial barriers between individuals in busy downtown settings. This page was created to help spread the word about the Stranger Reduction Zone as a public art piece and to promote the idea itself as a community art interaction movement to help people get to know each other.

Vote Forward 10/11/2020

Times are hard for a hands-on social engagement sculpture right now. However, you can reach out to your friendly American neighbors to encourage them to vote this November. Time is short and I wish I had thought to post this earlier. Visit https://votefwd.org/ and sign up to write letters to help get out the vote. My household has written 120 letters, and counting.

Mailing deadline is October 17th. Try to write 20 letters today. It takes about an hour and is certainly a better use of time than doom scrolling on Facebook. :)

Vote Forward Vote Forward volunteers send heartfelt handwritten letters to unregistered and low-propensity voters encouraging them to participate in our democracy. The letters have been shown to significantly boost voter turnout.

It's a hard time to be a social engagement public sculpture. I hope we can find our way back to a time when shaking hands isn't dangerous. Until then, let's support our urban neighbors by staying in and staying safe.

Thanks for the shout out!

Stranger reduction has moved to the online and virtual world, but the art installation is still standing at the Broomfield library! Don't push the button without sanitizing your hands (or wings).

COVIDodo thought is was a really cool idea! He wants to find one where you push the button and it tells you in multiple languages how to say "6 feet please."

Stranger Reduction Zone thank you for the public art :)

A public service announcement from Stranger Reduction Zone. We live in strange times. While it's still important to be a friend, maybe until we get past this coronavirus stuff, we should just waive hello for a while.

I'm happy to say that Lafayette, Colorado has it's own, permanent, Stranger Reduction Zone! They even had me modify it with a bilingual sign to better include their Hispanic residents. Hola!
