In a wonderful partnership with Thrivent and a generous donation from Dyersville Spahn and Rose, we are offering free beds (with mattress and bedding) to children in Dubuque County, ages 3-17, who do not have a bed of their own. With a limited quantity of beds available, please apply today. The beds will be delivered on August 13th. If you know a child in need, please request a bed using the link below. 🌟 Staff Spotlight: Elizabeth (Liz) Kemp, Project Specialist 🌟

This month, we're shining the spotlight on Liz Kemp, who has been a valued member of the ECIA team for 9 years!

As a Project Specialist and Program Manager for the City of Clinton Lead & Healthy Homes Program, Liz helps administer grant funding and ensures all program activities comply with HUD regulations. Her work plays an important role in making homes safer and healthier for residents who need assistance.

When asked what she enjoys most about her job, Liz shared: "My favorite part of my job is the team I work with at ECIA. We have common goals and work hard together for the best outcome for the people and communities that we serve. And we have some fun doing it."

⭐ Fun Fact: Liz has performed lead-based paint testing for the U.S. Coast Guard on several Coast Guard vessels!

The danger is real, but so is the solution. Childhood lead poisoning is 100% preventable. The primary sources of lead exposure are well known: lead based paint and contaminated soil, which can expose families without any visible warning signs. In some cases, lead may also be found in ceramics, spices, and other household products that families use and trust every day. Because lead exposure often goes unnoticed, awareness and prevention are critical to protecting children's health.

Last week while in Choose Clinton, Iowa, we took a quick detour to check out the new troll—and it did not disappoint! Such a neat addition to the community. It’s always great to see the unique features that make the areas we serve so special. 🌳✨
