Law Enforcement Explorers had a treat this Wednesday! They got to experience a decision making simulator! It was a great way for the youth to experience how police officers interact with people in real-life situations, and how officers can de-escalate or escalate situations through their words.

Last week Explorers with the Dubuque Police Department got to chat with specialty units - Tactical, Sniper, Interrogations, and Dive. It was a great chance for them to ask all their questions and test out some of the equipment.

Last week Explorers at Truck Country experienced some hands-on learning!

Truck Country opened their doors for Explorers on October 8th! These participants received the full tour as well as learning on circuit boards. They built simple circuits, and a challenging circuit. This taught the Explorers how to problem solve like the technicians at Truck Country do.

Last month 20 youth met at John Deere where they kicked off the Engineering & Technology Exploring program! Participants designed and used a computer design program to create their own name plates, and they competed in a friendly competition creating a boat to carry pennies across a body of water. There were bonuses for time, size, and reduction in points for additional materials. Such a great lesson in design, testing, and redesign - all important in the engineering field!
