Late afternoon at Enchanted Rock SNA. This was taken on the trail between Enchanted Rock and Turkey Peak. Love those hill country views.

I know its not Texas, but this is where I spent a few weeks - chasing tulips in the Netherlands. This comes from a 30-degree morning near the small hamlet of Den Bommel in South Holland. We had a wonderful host and enjoyed some of the most beautiful flower fields I've ever seen - and sunrises to match.
To see tulips of all colors, here is one of my online galleries from the "flower capitol of the world."

I think I've shot more outside the country than in Texas the last few months, but I did make it out to Enchanted Rock last week. The sunset wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but still turned out a bit interesting. This was taken on a slope between Turkey Peak and Freshman Mountain with the iconic dome of Enchanted Rock front and center.
Hope everyone is doing well. Feel free to check out my newish (and older) work here if you'd like:

Haven't posted in a while, but here is a not-so-long-ago image from the Lost Mine Trail in Big Bend National Park. Notice the person in a blue top on the rock ledge below. I thought his inclusion in this view gave this photograph a sense of scale displaying how vast and rugged this amazing national park is.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying cool.

I'd rather be in Big Bend NP today! This photo comes from just off the Hot Springs Trail this past spring. I love my time there.
Hope everyone has a good week.

I'd wanted to tackle this mountain for a long time. This vertical shot looks out from the summit of North Franklin Mountain (7,192') just outside El Paso as the sun dips low—casting the desert in a warm orange haze. South Franklin Mountain rises in the distance, framed by rock, silence, and sky.
⠀
📸 Taken after a long and arduous (brutal), yet beautiful hike to the summit. If you do this trail, just say no to shortcuts!
Has anyone else hiked up this mountain?

I've photographed around Santa Elena Canyon many times. On this visit, I was with a friend who wanted to shoot sunrise here. I was out of ideas so just spent some time walking the easy trail up switchbacks and back into the canyon. That's when I found this surprising perspective. Below the trail is the Rio Grande as it flows out of the canyon, around the south end of Big Bend National Park on its way to the Gulf of Mexico. On both sides of this small trail, the mighty canyon walls rise to the sky. It was a nice walk and beautiful morning!

How many have driven the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive? I'm sure a lot of you have. This sunset image was taken a few weeks ago on a cool, hazy spring sunset, and showcases the layers of the western slope of the Chisos.
Hope everyone has a good week.

Though I'd been up the Lost Mine Trail 10+ times for sunset, this was my first trek up in the dark for sunrise. My friend and I arrived early - an hour or so before first light - and taking in the slow transition from darkness to morning was memorable. Our National Parks are beautiful.
