Funny how the things closest to us we take for granted.
Timpangos Cave is roughly a 30 minute drive from my house.
Yes because it’s so close I never even considered going.
This year I’ve been trying to take advantage of the cool things we have that are close to home.
Definitely worth it if you haven’t been.
The hike I’d say is moderate roughly 1.5 miles to the cave but the trail is paved.
It is a fairly steep trail and we did witness multiple people that couldn’t make it.
You don’t need any intense training but make sure you can walk uphill for that distance.
Get out and go see it for yourself.
The pictures definitely don’t do it justice!

Had a blast hiking with family to Lake Blanche! Great hike to an amazing destination with gorgeous views! Oh and we saw a moose!!!

Another year around the sun!
In better shape than I was last year!
It’s because of the habits I’ve built!
Leaning into the suck, running, hiking, lifting especially during the times you don’t want to.
That’s how you build a solid foundation!
I used to tell myself that this wasn’t possible.
I couldn’t get jacked and run up mountains at the same time.
I realized it was just a story I had made up in my head.
Why?
To avoid the hard stuff, I knew pushing myself with running was going to be hard, running out of breathe, feeling like you’re going to die!
But the funny thing is, I didn’t die, I only got stronger for the next time!
Once you realize your excuses are stories that you’ve made up to avoid doing the hard s**t is when things will start changing for you!

Still getting the training in!
Body is adjusting nicely to all the added steps!
I’m currently getting ready to hike the Grand Canyon!
I’m doing this to raise money for !
He was born at 24 weeks, battled sepsis multiple times, was resuscitated, and life slighted and here he is now still pushing forward!
He’s an amazing little guy!

In preparation for the Grand Canyon I did an 8 mile hike today!
My two oldest boys joined along!
The snow definitely made it a lot more challenging than we had expected but in all we made it to the top safely and back down all in one piece.
We had fun, we got hurt, we wanted to quit…multiple times 😂, but before we started the theme of this hike was that we were going to find a way to enjoy the parts we hated the most.
Ultimately that’s what got us through on this one.
Looking back we are super proud of accomplishing this hike in the snow!
Many things worth while require an extreme effort even during the times you don’t feel like doing it.
There were many of those times today but overall we found a lot of fun along the way which helped push us through!
I’m doing this to raise money for Theo!
He’s already been through a ton and is needing another surgery to help him keep progressing. (He turns two this summer)

It’s repeating the same things over and over!
Consistency!
I’ve been doing the same split for years.
Why?
Because it’s what I enjoy and helps get me to the gym!
It keeps it consistent!
Yes some days it feels boring but I know what I’m doing so I don’t even question going.
It’s already planned out.
I just show up and stick to the routine!
You want lasting results?
Create a plan that you can do over and over and over every single day.
Keep it simple and each day you’ll make progress.
Keep it consistent!

You want them to do something?
Start by being the example.
Let me explain.
The last few years I’ve really made hiking a priority for my health and fitness.
I’d go on amazing hikes then come home and show my kids cool pictures of the places I was able to explore.
I would always think how cool it would be to take my kids but when I’d ask they’d say no for whatever reason.
Well this morning, that was different.
I told them I was going hiking and two of them were literally fighting to come with me!
So I ended up taking my 3 oldest and it was an absolute blast!
I didn’t do it as fast as I could but just the fact that they were there experiencing it with me was what I wanted!
They did an awesome job as well! Got to see some gorgeous views of the city while also pushing g ourselves physically!
Want your kids to do something? Start by being the example yourself!

Faced my fear of hiking in the cold today!
Working at the airport has really helped me over come this fear.
Planes have to go out regardless of how cold it is.
Many mornings it’s well below zero and we are out there getting things ready to go.
Well if I can be out working in the freezing cold why can’t I go hike in it?!
I always tell myself that it’s too cold and it will be so miserable.
But surprisingly if you dress appropriately it’s actually WARM!
It did help that my 9 year old woke up super excited to go hiking in the snow!
He overheard me telling my wife last night that I wanted to go hiking.
He woke up early to make sure I didn’t go without him!
It was so much fun and I’m excited I got to start my hiking early this year!
Last year I hit 160 miles in the mountains!
This year my goal is to hit 200 miles in the mountains!

One of the biggest contributors to creating my quad separation has been running down mountains!
Nothing will burn your quads more than running downhill for miles on end.
It’s hard, doesn’t feel pleasant but the results are worth it!

These last couple of months have been extremely difficult!
Work has been more time consuming than I ever imagined!
Feeling guilt about not being with the family because I’m called in so often.
However, I know it’s only temporary and that things are growing in the right direction!
It’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel when you are right in the middle of your s**t.
But know it’s there, and that taking the small steps daily will payoff in the end!
We may not have a ton of time but making the most of what we do have is what counts!

There’s plenty of days where I don’t feel like showing up.
I do it anyways.
Life has been crazy lately but if there is one thing that always keeps me sane it’s pushing myself physically on a daily basis.
Not only does it keep me healthy but it calms me mentally as well.
