Mentors needed for Operation Jumpstart — The Downey Patriot DOWNEY - The Downey Care Collaborative is looking for volunteers to mentor fostered and homeless youth through the length of their high school tenure. According to Victor Manalo, co-convener of the Downey Care Collaborative, the organization is looking to bring Operation Jumpstart into the city.

Thank you to the members of the Downey Cares Collaborative who graciously contributed gift cards and put together a rousing drive-thru graduation celebration for the high school seniors in our area who are in the foster care system.

Hundreds of children living in foster care came out for a wonderful holiday celebration, including lunch, arts & crafts, face painting, toys, and, of course, Santa! Thanks to all our DCC partners for making this a success!

New Season Church in Downey brought 100 volunteers to serve free Thanksgiving Meals to the community! We are grateful to have New Season as our partner in Downey.
