Most dog owners think their dog is ignoring them when they say âno.â
The truth?
Your dog isnât ignoring you.
The word ânoâ is meaningless unless a meaning has been attached to it in your dogâs mind.
If your dog hears ânoâ 50 times a day with no consequence, no redirection, and no follow-through, it becomes background noise.
Imagine someone speaking a language you donât understand and getting frustrated when you donât respond. Thatâs exactly what happens when we expect a dog to understand a word weâve never properly taught. đ
Dogs learn through associations!
If ânoâ is going to mean something, it has to consistently predict an outcome. Whether thatâs stopping a behavior, redirecting to a different behavior, or applying a consequence, the dog must learn that the word actually means something.
The goal isnât to repeat ânoâ louder.
The goal is to make the word matter.
When communication becomes clear, obedience becomes much easier. đŻ

Hereâs why crate training is one of the best things you can do for your dog:
It solves potty training almost instantly.
Dogs naturally wonât p*e or p**p where they sleep, but only if the crate is the right size. Too big and theyâll just use a corner. Get it right and house training sp*eds up dramatically.
It gives them their own space.
Think of it like a babyâs crib or a kidâs bedroom. Itâs not a punishment, itâs their place. A dog with no safe space is a dog that never fully decompresses.
It keeps them out of trouble.
Most dogs donât know how to self-soothe, especially puppies. That âmayhemâ people complain about, the chewing, the anxiety, the destruction, a crate fixes that before it even starts. Most people come to training after the damage is done. A crate wouldâve prevented it.
Itâs not cruel. Hereâs the reality.
You put a baby in a crib. You put a toddler in a playpen. Not because you donât love them, because you do. A crate gives a dog boundaries, safety, and a place to rest. Whatâs actually cruel is a dog that never learns to settle.
And when an emergency hits, youâll be glad you did this.
A vet visit. A natural disaster. An evacuation. That is not the moment you want to introduce the crate for the first time. A dog thatâs crate trained can handle those situations calmly. A dog thatâs not? Thatâs a crisis on top of a crisis.
Start now. Do it right. Your dog will thank you. â
Your dog isnât stubborn. Theyâre bored. đ¤
Most people teach their dog âsitâ and call it a day. Then wonder why their dog is still pulling, reactive, jumping, and out of control. đž
The truth? Your dog is capable of WAY more than youâve asked of them.
Dogs WANT a job. They want structure. They want to be pushed. The second you start actually training them, not just managing them, youâll be shocked at what they can do. đĽ
Youâre not dealing with a difficult dog. Youâre dealing with an untapped dog.
