Lane Blondell was the heart behind so many race-day memories—always working behind the scenes to make the Bonfield Express 5K something special. His care, planning, and quiet dedication were felt by every runner, every year.
If you’ve ever laced up your shoes and stood at the starting line with the train horn sounding —you were touched by Lane’s efforts. He leaves behind a loving circle of family and friends who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, laughter, and a generous heart. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
And next race day, when that train horn sounds… remember Lane. 🚂💙

These values guided the Bonfield Express Foundation as we planned for each annual 5K race and selected high school students for scholarships each Spring. The Foundation has now given away all the funds we collected hosting the race, a total of $1,363,500 that was invested right back into our community. Our 5K race is now being carried on by the Grove Express 5K. Thank you for the honor of serving the Downers Grove community!

Annette Bonfield was awarded the Community Adult Day Center's "Creating Hope" award last Saturday, May 13, for everything she has done for the Center and for all the hope she has created in the Downers Grove community. The Bonfield Express Foundation has provided amazing gifts to schools and students in Downers Grove and its surrounding communities throughout its 20-year long operation.
