The 40th Annual Delaware Natural Resources Police Youth Fishing Tournament was a huge success!!!!!!

🎣 Congratulations to Gabriel Alfaro of Newark, the overall winner of the 40th Annual Delaware Youth Fishing Tournament!

Gabriel reeled in 10.1 pounds of fish at Lums Pond to earn this year's statewide title during a day that brought young anglers together at fishing locations in all three counties.

For 40 years, the Delaware Youth Fishing Tournament, sponsored by Delaware Natural Resources Police, has introduced young people to the sport of fishing while teaching the importance of conservation through catch-and-release fishing.

Congratulations to all of this year's participants and winners, and thank you to the families, volunteers and staff who helped make this milestone event a success.

Last week, Captain Blattner, Corporal Gardner, and State Emergency Senior On-Scene Coordinator Chamberlain proudly completed the 30th Annual Police Unity Tour with Chapter IX.

Over the course of four days, they rode bicycles approximately 255 miles and climbed over 13,000 feet of elevation, traveling from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. to honor the courageous law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Thank you for representing our agency and community with strength, dedication, and remembrance. Your commitment helps ensure these heroes are never forgotten.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week.

Join us in remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who continue to selflessly serve and protect their communities across the United States.
