Help us spread the joy of reading across Delaware! We are collecting new and gently used books for readers of all ages as part of the Read Across Delaware initiative.

Your book donation can help inspire a love of reading and provide access to books for children, teens, and adults throughout our communities.

We are also seeking volunteers to assist with book collection, sorting, and community outreach. Whether you donate books or your time, your support makes a difference!

Stay Steady, Stay Active!

Join our free A Matter of Balance program, created for older adults who want to improve their balance, prevent falls, and maintain their independence. Participants will explore practical techniques, set achievable activity goals, and learn ways to build confidence in their daily routines.

Join the Shoreline Sweep – Tower Beach volunteer team and help keep our shoreline clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone to enjoy!

📍 Location: Tower Rd, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 (Tower Beach parking lot near the bathhouse, Delaware Seashore State Park)
📅 Every other Tuesday (ongoing)
👥 Ages 6+ | Family Friendly | Outdoors

✨ What volunteers do:
🗑️ Remove litter and debris from walkways, sand, and paved paths
🌿 Help create a cleaner, safer park for visitors
🤝 Work alongside fellow community volunteers

🧰 All supplies provided: gloves, buckets, and litter grabbers
👟 What to bring: water, sunscreen, bug repellent, and closed-toe shoes

♿ Accessibility: Open to all, including wheelchair and mobility aid users
🐾 Pets: Leashed, well-behaved pets welcome
👨‍👩‍👧 Minors: Must be supervised by a parent/guardian

Volunteer with the SAV Seekers: A Community Science Monitoring Program and become part of a statewide effort to map and protect vital submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) habitats. Delaware Sea Grant

🚣‍♀️ Volunteer by foot, kayak, paddle, or small boat

SAV Seekers are trained community scientists who help collect real environmental data used for conservation and restoration efforts across the state.

✨ What volunteers do:
🌱 Identify and document submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) species
💧 Measure water quality (depth, salinity, clarity, temperature)
🗺️ Collect geo-tagged photos of habitats and shoreline features
📊 Use field datasheets and digital tools (QuickCapture & Survey123)
📍 Submit data supporting Delaware’s statewide SAV database

🧭 Training path includes:
1️⃣ Classroom training (SAV basics & species ID)
2️⃣ Field training at a local site
3️⃣ Open-book online assessment
4️⃣ Start collecting real scientific data!

Volunteer with the Habitat ReStores of New Castle County ReStore Regulars Volunteer Team and help support affordable housing in New Castle County—one donated item at a time.

The ReStore is a nonprofit thrift and home improvement store that sells donated furniture, appliances, tools, décor, and more to fund affordable housing programs. Volunteers are a huge part of making that mission possible!
