During our site visit, we certainly found some interesting construction methods!

Here, Branden from our Arc Flash/Infrared/Predictive Maintenance Inspection team performs an infrared inspection of motor control centers at a local polyvinyl chloride extrusion plant.

Predictive maintenance goes a step beyond preventive maintenance. Our predictive maintenance team identifies problems before they cause equipment shutdowns. Often, these problems are not serviced during routine preventive maintenance.

Our data collection team was back at it again this week!

We saw this very cool, ancient Ingersoll Rand air compressor. It is still running strong, providing compressed air to plant processes.

NFPA70E mandates that electrical equipment be de-energized into an Electrically Safe Work Condition (ESWC) before work, but allows energized work only when justified (e.g., life support interruption, infeasibility due to design/operation) and requires a formal Energized Electrical Work Permit (EEWP) with strict safety measures like shock/arc flash analysis, approach boundaries, and specific PPE for qualified persons. Energized work should be the exception, not the rule, focusing on tasks like troubleshooting and voltage testing, not routine repair.

Infrared Inspection and repair are tasks that can safely be done, while energized, by qualified persons.

With this new Wiha kit, our team now is better equipped during the testing and repair portion of our infrared inspections.

Our team encountered a pretty cool ;) piece of equipment at one of our local clients.

This is the Cooling coil of a "fan house" in a large building. It is three rooms that act as the air handler.

There was over 40000CFM running through this space! That's 100 tons of cooling!

This is the first time a case study has been performed on one of the projects we designed.
