Iconic movie poster artist, Drew Struzan, has passed away at the age of 78. He created posters for a string of major hits, including Star Wars, Back to the Future, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Indiana Jones, The Thing, and The Goonies. His signature style, which captured the "feeling" of a film, became synonymous with blockbuster cinema. Struzan designed many posters for films that defined the 80s, such as The Cannonball Run, Police Academy, First Blood, and Coming to America. R.I.P. 🙏

I'm cringing when I look back at the first versions I did of some of these U.S. States travel posters a year or so ago. The available AI tools and techniques have gotten so much better since then, and I'm using more of them. Magnific.ai is a little pricy, but well worth it. It allows you to do a basic sketch with source photos, other AI renderings from tools like fotor.com and ChatGTP, and fee-hand renderings with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and then fill in missing information - provided that you instruct it to do so correctly!

Subscribing to more AI tools. I have to use a combination of them to get the effects that I want. This was done with a little ChatGPT, a little Fotor, and a little Magnific - and then retouched with Adobe Photoshop. AI is getting better, and I think I'm getting better at it. But it's not a magic wand. It's a acquired skill set like any other, and like any other skill set, you need the right tools for each step in the process.
