Owning a farm is more than just growing your own food, processing your own meat, and petting the livestock. Sometimes it’s being bundled up like Randy from Christmas Story, frozen up equipment, frozen waterers, dead batteries, and other uncomfortable and inconvenient moments. Work doesn’t stop just because the temps drop to single digits.

Grapple is in operation. That means, expedited cleanup of the farm and tons of firewood for sale this fall. Trees have been drying out since January. We have various hardwoods from red oak, white oak, birch, and others. We even have pine that we can cut up in sections for chipping or sawing. Contact us for any questions or orders
Learning tip of the day. When trying new things on the farm, get great tips from experienced people in the area of new for you. Case in point, this is our 2nd year trying our hand at growing watermelon. Last year started great. Had plenty of melons on the vine. It went bust because we over watered them during the drought. Ok. Lesson learned. This year, we had a melon that I was sure had ripened because I did the thump test and the bottom was yellow. (A trick I was taught years ago, apparently taught wrong!) I was excited because I love watermelon. My kids were excited. They too love watermelon. We chilled it, proceeded to cut it open to enjoy that sweet, juicy nectar on a hot day, and there it was staring at us with disappointment in my heart. Mostly white inside with little red. Even on the farm, I’m reminded that I still have learning to do. Just because I have years of experience in the farm world, doesn’t mean I know everything. Just like in life, sometimes I have to learn from experience. With that being said, if you fail at something, don’t quit!! Just keep trying and learn. The end result will be achieved no matter how many times you fail.

Sometimes it gets a little crappy working on the farm. Other times you just want to brush your ass before spreading crap about the farm.

When your skid steer is still at shop and you have to feed, you just back up next to it and push it off to transport. Farm problems and solutions! Think outside the box

A quick photo dump. The farm truck got an upgrade and has already been put to work. We also got some meat birds to raise to replenish the freezer. We’ve been getting some work done to the farm to create more pasture. This fall we will have several types of seasoned firewood for sale. Red oak, white oak, and more along with kindling.
