Traffic Advisory – Central Avenue & Glenwood Avenue

The City of Dover will be conducting traffic signal upgrades at the intersection of Central Avenue and Glenwood Avenue on Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.

During this work, the traffic signals will be temporarily out of service. Dover Police Officers will be on scene directing traffic and assisting with traffic flow through the intersection.

Motorists should expect delays throughout both days and are encouraged to seek alternate routes whenever possible.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as the City completes these important improvements to the intersection.

Thank you for helping us keep traffic moving safely during this project.

In May, Dover Police officers responded to 2,004 calls for service, conducted 551 traffic stops, investigated 99 collisions, completed 681 reports, and made 72 arrests. Each of these numbers represents a moment where officers were called upon to protect public safety, provide assistance, and uphold the law.

Behind the statistics are dedicated professionals working around the clock to keep our community safe, respond with care, and remain accountable to those we serve.

As Guardians of the Garrison City, we remain committed to proactive policing, transparency, and strong community partnerships throughout the year.

The Dover Police Department has received concerns from residents regarding loud vehicle exhaust and other unnecessary vehicle noise that disrupts neighborhoods and disturbs the public peace.

New Hampshire law (RSA 266:59) requires all motor vehicles to be equipped with a properly functioning muffler and prohibits the use of straight pipe exhaust systems, muffler bypasses, and other modifications that create excessive or unusual noise.
In addition, Dover City Ordinance 105-3 prohibits loud or unreasonable noises that would disturb a person of average sensibility.

We ask all motorists to be considerate of their neighbors and the community by ensuring their vehicles comply with state law and by avoiding excessive engine revving, loud exhaust noise, and other unnecessary disturbances.

Thank you for helping us keep Dover a safe, respectful, and peaceful community.
