🚨Scam Alert 🚨
Have you received a phone call from Xfinity telling you about a 50% off offer?? It's a scam
Here is what happens
I received a voice mail on my cell: " Hi there, I'm calling you from Comcast Xfinity to let you know that your existing account is qualified for 50% off in order to avail the discount; kindly call us back
Customers can report alleged scams to Comcast Security Assurance Team at [email protected].
So again, the call is a scam. A fifty-percent reduction in your cable bill sounds good, but it's too good to be true.

Get Ready For The 2nd Apple "Cable Switch."
Do you remember September 12, 2012?
That's the day apple announced they were dumping the 30-pin connector they started with and made the jump to lightning. Now Apple is getting ready to close the lightning chapter, it seems.
Greg Joswiak, Apple's Senior Vice President of Marketing, has confirmed that the iPhone will switch to a USB-C port because "we have no choice."
Joswiak and Craig Federighi, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, had a conversation with The Wall Street Journal's Joanna Stern yesterday where the cables and ports were discussed.
The European Union will require all phones, tablets, and cameras to use USB-C for charging before 2024. Based on Apple's typical release cycle for new iPhone models, the iPhone 16 will need to ship with a USB Type-C port, although Apple could decide to make the switch next year on the iPhone 15.
While smartphones have been using USB Type-C for years, this could cause a rumble with the Apple community.

Apple Update Day Is Here...
Get ready; today is the day to release multiple Apple OS Updates, and the bandwidth across the web will be crawling.
We are seeing the release of iOS 16.1 for iPhones, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura. The updates should be available around 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Which would be 1:00 PM Monday, Eastern Time. Plan to take lunch at this time since the slowness will frustrate the nation.
REMINDER: ITS BEST TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST OS UPDATED ON YOUR DEVICE AND ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE MOST UPDATED APPS. THIS WILL SAVE TIME.

Get Ready For A BIG Apple Week Starting Monday
Apple has confirmed that macOS Ventura will be available to the public next Monday, October 24. This means your Mac will be getting some exciting new features.
The next version of the operating system enhances the continuity features between iPhone and Mac, so that an iPhone can now be used as a computer we**am. Another new continuity feature lets you transfer a FaceTime call from an iPhone to a Mac or vice versa.
Just like on iOS, iMessage users can finally edit and unsend messages on macOS. Mail has also been updated with options to unsend emails and Safari now supports passkeys, a new way to authenticate to apps and websites without a traditional password.
Also iOS 16.1 arrives to the general public on October 24. iOS 16.1 includes a number of new features, including Live Activities, Clean Energy Charging, and more.
Finally iPadOS 16 is coming Monday but you’ll need a very new iPad to get every feature. Some of the new features will work only on iPads that use an M1 or M2 chip instead of an A-series processor. In other words, you’ll need one of the newest iPad Pros or the latest iPad Air to run several new iPadOS 16.1 features

How Is 5G Working For You? Let Us Know
Each cellular company brags about its 5G service; however, if you ask around, some will say it's not worth the cost for the results it delivers. When bragging about fantastic results, it's clear they are not considering the location of their customers.
Let's take a closer look at the Central Pennsylvania area:
Looking at the 5G coverage map provided by www.nperf.com, we have many areas not covered. Now we have 4G/LTE, which still delivers coverage, which can cause you to get those slower speeds when using data.
The big issue is the cellular provider's word.
Promoting promises such as 5G networks will deliver up to 100x faster speeds, be more reliable, have lower latency and better response times, and provide higher capacity for users and greater flexibility.
The carriers are also pushing 5G C-band coverage to help boost their range more, which is showing some improvement. For example, according to a study OpenSignal produced, from March 2022, AT&T users’ 5G Download Speed has increased by 34.6%, which has grown a rising share of 5G readings that use C-band has risen from 4.6% to over 30% in the same time frame. On Verizon, we see a similar upward trend — our users’ average 5G Download Speed has increased by 15.8%, with the share of 5G readings growing from 16.2% to nearly 50%, but AT&T is narrowing the gap.”
An important note, T-Mobile completed a merger with Sprint mobile in 2021, which increased their network drastically. However, the overall service they deliver is still behind the big two.
So the carriers are pushing for better results; is it worth the monthly cost for consumers?
Mr. Techy is getting ready to release a Holiday Season 2022 consumer piece that will help guide you in making the best purchases when it comes to technology.
