WE ARE LAUNCHING SOMETHING NEW 🎉

Introducing Clinical Case Studies with Chidozie Ojobor, Ph.D., Vitract's Co-founder and Chief Science Officer.

Starting October 8th, a real provider will join Dr. Ojobor each month to walk through a real patient case and show exactly how Vitract microbiome data shaped the clinical picture and informed the care plan. Each session is a live look at how the science works in practice.

Every webinar covers a de-identified patient case, a deeper look at what the microbiome findings revealed beyond the surface scores, how gut data was integrated with other clinical findings, and a practical framework for translating microbiome data into individualized care.

The first session is October 8th. Tickets are $99.

Our first Co-Founder Conversation is live on YouTube.

Vitract CEO Linta Mustafa and CSO Dr. Chidozie Ojobor sat down for an unfiltered conversation about the state of the direct-to-consumer gut microbiome testing industry: the red flags providers should watch for, why the same sample can come back differently from seven different labs, and why the field needs more transparency and collaboration to move forward.

Two founders, one honest conversation about where the industry stands and where it needs to go.

The gut microbiome testing space has an overpromising problem.

A few red flags to watch for when evaluating a company:

If they are selling supplements alongside their tests, the conflict of interest is built into the business model.

If they are telling you that based on your microbiome composition you are likely to develop obesity or type 2 diabetes, they are diagnosing conditions the science cannot yet support.

And if they are promising digital twinning or disease prediction, that is beyond what the literature currently supports.

Linta Mustafa breaks this down in a conversation coming soon to YouTube. Stay tuned.

One of the most common questions providers ask us: if gut microbiome results can change, why bother testing at all?

Chidozie Ojobor explains the mechanism behind why that concern is largely unfounded. Even when something as disruptive as antibiotics wipes out beneficial organisms, the microbiome is evolutionarily wired to return to its stable state. Your body is actively working to co-opt those organisms back.

The microbiome is more resilient than most people assume. That resilience is also what makes it a reliable diagnostic signal.

Can taking Akkermansia lead to constipation?

The answer is yes, but only if you already have an overgrowth.

Chidozie Ojobor explains why: when bacteria that break down the outer mucus layer are overactive and degradation outpaces synthesis, the layer thins. Mucus is what lubricates stool movement. When it is compromised, constipation follows.

We are not expecting every provider who uses gut testing to become an expert in the microbiome. That is not realistic.

Linta Mustafa makes the case for where AI fits into clinical practice and why closing that knowledge gap is one of the most important problems in functional medicine right now.

Full conversation coming to YouTube soon. Stay tuned, and tag a provider who needs to hear this.

If a test isn't changing your protocol, you shouldn't be using it.

Linta Mustafa said it plainly in a recent conversation with Chidozie Ojobor, Ph.D., and it is one of the most honest things we have heard said about diagnostic testing in functional medicine.

The full conversation is coming to YouTube soon. Stay tuned.

Trying to treat a patient without understanding their gut microbiome is a bit like throwing a dart in a dark room.

Chidozie Ojobor, Ph.D. breaks down why gut testing changes the picture for clinicians, and what it actually means to practice with more light. This is the kind of thinking that drives everything we build at Vitract.

Stay tuned! Full video coming to YouTube soon.
