Today we celebrate National School Resource Officer Day and recognize the incredible work our SROs do every single day in the Dover community. These officers are more than a badge in the hallway. They are mentors, role models, listeners, and trusted adults our students can count on.

From greeting kids in the morning to helping guide them through tough moments, our SROs build real relationships that make our schools safer and stronger. They coach, they teach, they protect, and they care deeply about every student they serve.

Thank you to our Dover Police Department School Resource Officers for showing up with heart, integrity, and commitment. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom and into the future of our community.

Due to ongoing safety concerns related to inclement weather, all Capital School District schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with the following adjustments:

- AM Pre-K programs are canceled for the day.
- Full-day Pre-K programs will operate on a two-hour delay.
- PM Pre-K programs will operate on their regular schedule.
- No breakfast will be served at any school building.
- Offices will open on time.

We recognize that many neighborhood streets and sidewalks may still be icy. Please use caution when traveling, especially in areas that may not yet be fully treated. We encourage all families and staff to use caution, allow extra travel time, and prioritize safety as conditions improve.

To support a safe arrival, school staff will be stationed outside to help direct students to the correct entrances and along designated walkways. Please remind your child to follow staff instructions and use marked paths when approaching the building.

Students who arrive late due to weather-related conditions will not be marked tardy. Absences caused by travel or safety concerns will be excused with a written note from a parent or guardian.

Road conditions have improved in many areas; however, some roads and bus stops near families’ homes may still be impacted. Capital School District wants to ensure that all students have safe and reliable access to school. If roads or bus stops near your home have not yet been cleared, please complete the form below and include as much detail as possible about your location so we can better understand the situation.
