🇺🇸 COMMUNITY QUESTION

What’s one veteran benefit you didn’t know existed until *years* after you left the military?

Maybe it was a VA benefit.

Maybe it was a housing program.

Maybe it was financial assistance.

Maybe someone told you about a resource that completely changed your situation.

We all know the military gives you a mountain of information before you separate…

…but somehow, there always seems to be something nobody told you about. 😂

👇 What benefit or resource did you discover way too late?

Drop it in the comments.

You might introduce another veteran to a resource they desperately need.

The moments nobody sees…
Are often the moments veterans remember the most.
Not the ceremonies. Not the awards. Not the pictures.
The quiet moments.
Sitting in a vehicle before going inside. Looking around a room and noticing who isn't there anymore. Hearing a sound that brings back a memory. Driving past a place that reminds you of a different time in life.
Most people see the veteran who came home.
They don't always see the memories that came home too.
But behind every veteran is a story filled with experiences, friendships, challenges, and moments that shaped who they are today.
So if you know a veteran, don't just thank them for their service.
Ask them their story.
Sometimes being heard is the support someone needed all along.

🇺🇸 **DID YOU KNOW?**

💡 **A 0% VA disability rating can still qualify you for VA life insurance.**

It’s called **VALife (Veterans Affairs Life Insurance)**, and it provides guaranteed-acceptance whole life insurance to veterans with a VA service-connected disability rating—even if that rating is **0%**.

Here’s what many veterans may not know:

🔹 You can get **up to $40,000** in whole life coverage.

🔹 You **don’t have to answer health questions or take a medical exam** to qualify if you meet the eligibility requirements.

🔹 There’s **no deadline to apply** after receiving your service-connected disability rating.

🔹 Your premium rate is based on your age and coverage amount and **doesn't increase** as long as you keep the policy.

🔹 VALife can build **cash value beginning two years after the policy is approved**.

⚠️ **One important thing to know:** Full coverage begins after a **2-year waiting period**. During that period, if the policyholder dies, VA pays the beneficiary the premiums paid plus interest.

If you have a service-connected disability rating—even **0%**—it may be worth taking a few minutes to see whether VALife is an option for you.

🇺🇸 RESOURCE SPOTLIGHT: GARY SINISE FOUNDATION

Sometimes supporting veterans means more than saying “thank you.” It means helping make life a little more manageable after service.

The **Gary Sinise Foundation** serves veterans of every conflict, severely wounded heroes, active-duty service members, families of fallen heroes, and those dealing with invisible wounds.

🏠 **Home Modifications**
For severely wounded veterans, the Foundation helps make homes more accessible through projects such as wheelchair ramps, accessible bathrooms, renovated kitchens, and other modifications.

♿ **Mobility Devices & Vehicles**
The Foundation provides mobility devices and specially adapted vehicles designed to help wounded heroes regain independence and participate more fully in everyday life.

🧠 **Mental Wellness**
Through its Mental Wellness efforts and partnerships, the Foundation supports veterans and other heroes dealing with invisible wounds, including trauma, grief, and post-traumatic stress.

🎖️ Honoring Veterans & Their Families
From veteran celebrations and reunions to entertainment and other programs, the Foundation works to strengthen connections and remind our nation's heroes that they haven't been forgotten.

💬 **Community Question of the Day**

If you could sit down with your younger self before you raised your right hand and enlisted...

**What's the one piece of advice you would give?**

Would you tell yourself to save more money?
Take more pictures?
Stay in touch with friends?
Take care of your body?
Ask for help sooner?
Or simply enjoy the journey a little more?

Your experience—both the victories and the hardships—could be exactly what another veteran or future service member needs to hear today.

Share your answer in the comments. Let's learn from each other and continue building a community where every story matters.

🇺🇸 At Veterans View, we believe the wisdom gained through service shouldn't end when the uniform comes off.

We can't wait to read your responses.

🇺🇸 **WEDNESDAY REMINDER**

You don't have to earn rest.

As veterans, we're used to pushing through, taking care of the mission, and putting everyone else first. But taking a moment for yourself isn't weakness—and it isn't selfish.

Take a few minutes today to:

☕ Step away and breathe
🚶 Get outside for a little while
📵 Put the phone down
🎮 Do something you enjoy
❤️ Check in with yourself

You don't always need to be productive. Sometimes, you just need a moment.

Take care of yourself today. You matter, too.
