First day back from having the flu and was welcomed by a Stateboard visit—but SOL finally got her first Stateboard inspection. We are happy to report we made 100!!!! Yayy!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

CALLING ALL CURLY GIRLS📣📣📣📣

I’ll admit it. I haven’t always specialized in curly cuts. It’s just not taught in school and it’s sort of a different animal. I’ve made it my mission to improve my curly cuts so that I can help my curly clients feel confident and be able to style their natural curls, embracing them, and not just flat ironing them to death.

It’s different techniques, it’s different products, and more care. I’ve learned so much the past few years about naturally curly hair. While I’m not a master yet, I do think I have gotten it down to a science that has really great results.

As you see here, this client has some dead ends and the curls are sort of lifeless and overall lacking shape and volume. With the techniques I use, we gave her curls more bounce without disrupting the curl pattern. And that part is really important to me.

If I have learned anything at all that I can share with you it’s that, please clarify your hair maybe once a week or week and a half if you use a lot of product. The curls can get a lot of build up, creating a barrier where the moisture can no longer get in. It also weighs the curls down! Please condition after as it is very drying! 🧽

#2 most important thing is MOISTURE!!!!!!! Your curls need moisture. Apply your leave in conditioners/curl gels on soaking wet hair, it traps the moisture in and traps frizz out. Your scalp oil can’t travel down the hair shaft as easy because of the coil so you have to add the moisture in yourself. Try using:
Leave in➡️curl cream➡️gel 💦

#3 you guessed it, SILK BONNET or SILK PILLOWCASE. Thank me later. This allows the curls to slide around and not be pulled or damaged in your sleep. Causing matts, frizz and damage. 🍦

#4 Double Shampoo. First one knocks the dirt and oils loose. Second shampoo actually cleans the scalp and hair!! 🧼🧼
