I'm closely watching these two cells in Holmes County and Jackson County for some broad rotation.

A quick spin-up tornado is possible as these cells continue to move northeast. No tornado warnings yet, but keep an eye on them.

Thursday could be an interesting day for us in the Wiregrass.

Increased wind shear with warm and humid conditions on the eastern side of what will likely become Tropical Storm Arthur could bring an increased risk of spin-up tornadoes that afternoon.

A marginal risk for severe weather is currently in place for Thursday across the region, but I would not be surprised at all to see an increase to that threat either tomorrow or early Thursday morning.

Nothing to be overly concerned about, but something to keep an eye on. Stay weather aware!

The National Hurricane Center has started issuing advisories on Potential Tropical Cyclone One, currently located over southern Texas.

This is expected to become Tropical Storm Arthur over the northwest corner of the Gulf tomorrow. Regardless of how this disturbance winds up evolving, flooding rains are on the way for the western portions of the Gulf Coast.

Remember that the National Hurricane Center uses Potential Tropical Cyclones whenever an organized tropical system doesn't exist yet, but the disturbance is expected to bring tropical storm or hurricane conditions to land within the next 48 hours.

Rain is already coming down over several locations this morning, and there's even more on the way back toward our west.

Showers and storms become heavier and more widespread this afternoon. Heavy rain could lead to some isolated pockets of flooding.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will already make for not-great beach conditions, but be aware of a high rip current risk as well.

Red beach flags will be flying wherever that rip current risk is high. Be mindful of those beach flags if you dodge those storms on the beach.

Showers and thunderstorms are becoming more scattered and numerous early this afternoon, and we'll see even more of that through the rest of the week.

Coverage will vary from day to day from 50% to 80%, with Tuesday and Friday looking like the wettest days for now. Watch out for heavy rain, frequent lighting, and some gusty winds in any of the stronger storms.

A disturbance located over far northeastern Mexico is expected to enter the Gulf over the next couple of days, and it has a low chance of developing into at least a tropical depression from there.

Regardless of tropical development, a lot of rain is on the way to the Gulf Coast for the week ahead--including us here in the Wiregrass.

A few stray showers are already popping up early this morning around the Wiregrass. We'll see those become a bit more scattered to widespread later this afternoon.

This is all a part of what will be a much wetter pattern for much of us as the week unfolds.

The weekend is still hot and humid, but we'll start to see spotty showers and storms return to the region too. Not everyone sees rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Rain chances increase even more through next week. Tuesday and Wednesday look to be the wettest days for now.

Models have been fairly consistent in bringing around 2 to 4 inches of rain to locations near the Gulf Coast between now and next Saturday evening. There will be locally lighter and locally heavier rainfall amounts in some spots.

Bad news: Summer-like heat and humidity continues into the weekend.

Good news: Pop-up showers and storms finally return and bring some heat relief to a handful of lucky locations.
