For dozens of student athletes across Kansas City, the FIFA World Cup is no longer something they watch on TV, it’s something they’ll experience in person!!
Thanks to a partnership between Airbnb, Kansas City Public Schools, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, and city leaders, 75 students and coaches will attend World Cup matches free of charge. For many, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a chance to see the highest level of competition in the sport they love!!

Today I covered a panel hosted by Visit KC and the U.S. Travel Association focused on how Kansas City can turn the world’s attention into lasting tourism, investment, and economic growth. Panelists emphasized that while the matches may only last a few weeks, the goal is to create experiences that keep international visitors coming back for years to come.

Tomorrow is the big day!! The first time in history a World Cup game will be played in Kansas City.

Eleven skydivers and a pilot are dead after a plane crashed in Butler, Missouri, Sunday morning, in an incident local authorities call a “mass casualty event.”
According to a spokesperson with Bates County Emergency Management, just before 11:30 a.m., a private plane leaving the Butler Memorial Airport turned around for an unknown reason before crashing in the area of Business 49 Highway.

The English National team touched down in Kansas City Saturday afternoon just before 12:30 p.m. for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The team flew just under 1,200 miles into the Wheeler Downtown Airport roughly an hour ahead of schedule from West Palm Beach, Fla. in a Global Crossing Airlines Airbus A320-214 aircraft, according to flight radar.
