We’re in a hotter than normal pattern from the Plains through the South. This heat is hard on humans - and our furry friends. For reference, when the air is 96°, sun-baked pavement can reach 140° or hotter this time of year. 🔥 If it’s too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Please share!

Our philosophy on adoptions is that once we take an animal into our care then it is “our” animal for its lifetime!
If you are looking to adopt please give it some real thought as to if you are ready for the responsibility! We don’t want people adopting with the idea that they will just return them if they no longer want the pet. Adopting a pet should be done with the intent of keeping the pet for that pets lifetime!
However, we do understand that circumstances do sometimes arise where people are no longer able to keep the pet. If you adopt a pet from us and you can no longer keep that pet PLEASE return it to us! Please contact us and arrange to return the pet. We know people think….I feel bad to take it back to the shelter. We totally get that! But, the reality is it is much better and safer for the pet for you to bring that pet back to us than it is to randomly rehome it to a stranger, especially on social media. We set no time limit on how long a pet can stay with us before it is adopted. We would much rather go through our process to be able to approve/vet the new adopters ourselves and have our system current as to where that animal is located.
Also, if you adopt from us, no matter how long it has been, and your personal info changes PLEASE contact us and let us know your new contact info so we can update it in our system in case we should ever need to contact you. You can just shoot us an email with your new contact info at [email protected]. Please notify your pets microchip company as well! If your pet gets lost this makes it much easier to get them back to you!

It’s been a bit of a long road getting Diamond healthy but she has completed her heartworm treatment! She is now healthy and ready to find her happily ever after!! She is a 2 year old chihuahua mix and weighs 15-20lbs. She can be a bit picky about what other dogs she likes so a meet & greet will be required. We have spoiled her rotten and her new family will need to do the same! She deserves the best life!! If you think Diamond is the girl for you then come out and meet her! 💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾

Things have not gone Tiny’s way lately! We took her in after her owner passed away. We found her a fantastic home but through no fault of anyone she has ended up back with us. Someone in her new family was badly allergic and they were absolutely heartbroken to have to return her. They said she is a great cat who absolutely loves attention. If you are looking for the independent cat who does their own thing she is not it but if you want a cuddly companion who is always by your side then Tiny is your girl!! She’s just sitting in the cat room patiently waiting for someone who can be her forever! Is that you? She promises she would be a fantastic new best friend and love you forever! Remember Peggy? She was dumped on our property back in May. She was so very scared! It took us a couple of weeks and trying many things but we finally lured her into our yard and caught her. We discovered she was heartworm positive. Her mom stepped up to foster her and stood by her side through all the treatment. She is now heartworm free! The family fell in love with Peggy!! Peggy fell in love with them too! They have now officially made her part of their family and adopted her!! Look at that smile!! Peggy knows she hit the jackpot! She is a happy girl in her forever home!! Thank you to her family for stepping up to foster and now adopting Peggy!! We appreciate you!! 💕🐾💕🐾💕🐾
