While our dogs are considered domesticated, they can still be unpredictable and there is a chance that they may bite. In the state of Alabama if you have a pet and they do bite, you typically get the βone bite ruleβ where you are not liable if your pet acts out of character and bites someone. However if your pet has a history of biting then you are on notice and can be held liable for damages. On the other hand if you have a dog that is considered a βvicious breedβ under the law if they bite even one time, then you can be held liable for damages.
Another thing you should know is that if you are a homeowner and someone gets bit on your property, a lot of times your homeowners policy may cover injuries to someone who is bit on your property. We would advise that if you have a dog you review your policy to make sure you know what is covered.
Attorney Jessica Givens and her special guest, Marsha, share some information about dog laws in the state of Alabama that you may or may not be familiar with. We enjoy when a Legal Talk can educate the general public and illuminate some light on laws and acts that you may otherwise be unaware of.
Sometimes Legal Talk production can get a little sillyβ¦
Here are some bloopers to brighten up your day. π₯

While this may be a little ironic, Attorney John Givens wants to advise you to err on the side of caution when it comes to getting professional advice on social media. It is always a good idea to make sure that the content you consume and the people you watch are actually qualified in the subject matter that they are sharing online.

The data you input and upload into an AI model can be stored and used to train and improve its models. But you do have the ability to opt out of various options if you do not want your data collected and stored in the AI model. Now while some data will still be stored for a temporary amount of time for safety reasons, it will not be used for training and deleted after this short amount of time.
Check out Senior Partner Joseph Laneβs Legal Talk on this topic.

Senior Partner, Joseph Lane talks about AI and a step you can take to make sure that your information and data is not stored and being used for training and refining the AI models, if you desire that.

The question of the Day: βWho can operate motorized boats/vessels on Alabama waterways?β
Currently, anyone 12 years of age or older can legally operate a boat (i.e. any type of motorized vehicle such as a boat or jetski) on Alabama waterways. While a 12 or 13 year old can be in control, they can only do so if they are properly licensed and there must be someone at least 21 years of age on the boat with them seated in a position where they can take immediate control of the boat if something goes wrong.
Anyone 14 years of age or older can operate a boat on Alabama waterways, but they do not need to be supervised by someone over 21 years of age, but they still need to be properly licensed.
Keep in mind this does not apply to non-motorized water vehicles.
