Ziva was a strong contender for Rookie of the Year during her inaugural season in 2022. That same year, she qualified for and competed at the DockDogs World Championships. An experience her handlers will forever cherish, she was a Finalist in both Speed Retrieve and Big Air!

Ziva went on to qualify for and compete at the World Championships for years to follow. She won the Chesapeake DockDogs Best Sit-Stay Award in 2023, and if you ever get a chance to watch this team on the dock, you'll understand why!

Featuring Lenny Bruce, our true club comedian!

LB has been a strong competitor with Chesapeake DockDogs for over 5 years, racking up numerous awards and podium results in all 3 disciplines plus Iron Dog. Our 2021 Rookie of the Year, Lenny competed in the DockDogs World Championships in 2021 and 2022, and was the Reserve Champion in Extreme Vertical Tier 3 in '22!

While he is an incredible athlete, Lenny Bruce does not take himself too seriously. He's been nominated for and/or won the CDD Comedy Star/Pure Entertainment Award every year since 2022, reminding us all that the most important thing about dock diving is to have fun!

We look forward to seeing Lenny Bruce and his rubber chicken 🐔 on the dock for seasons to come!

To say they will be missed is a massive understatement - Kathryn's dedication, energy, and leadership have left a lasting mark on this club, and Harper and Spork haven't just been dogs competing at events; they've become part of our families.

Featuring Bodie, who has had a remarkable rookie season!

Bodie stepped onto the dock for the first time at one of our open practices last summer and impressed us all. Fast forward to his first event in September, he took home 1st in Big Air Masters Finals. He then competed in his first Dueling Dogs competition in October and won Class 1 Finals!

This season is proving to be equally exciting for Bodie. At our World of Pets Expo event in January, which was his first ever indoor event, he placed 1st in Iron Dog Titan. At our most recent Hops on the Dock event, he placed 1st Elite in all of his Big Air waves, 2nd in Speed Retrieve Nitro, 1st in Iron Dog Titan, and 1st in Big Air Elite Finals! He was also a fierce competitor at the NRA and BANA Dueling Dogs events this year!

This rookie is on fire and we love the energy that this team brings to our club and events!

𝗪𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 💦

Featuring Sydney from one of our most prominent Youth Handler teams!

When a dog is born on Valentine's Day, you know she's going to be special. Like many of our members, Sydney and her handler, Hannah, got started on the dock at Maggie Malick Wine Caves, back in 2018. Just 9 years old, Hannah quickly became a standout handler. In 2021, the team earned their first invite to the DockDogs World Championships, where they were Big Air Finalists! They went on to qualify for Worlds in 2023, 2024, and received their first invite to the Dueling Dogs World Championships in 2025.

Sydney and Hannah have been one of the top ranked CDD Youth Handler teams for several years, and we are proud of everything this team has accomplished. Hannah has been an excellent role model for our next generation of handlers, and as they have officially graduated from being a Youth Handler team, we are excited to see what this driven team accomplishes, both on and off the dock!

The inaugural Chesapeake DockDogs @ Louisa County Fair is about to go LIVE on DockDogs' website!

This 3-day event will include 9 Big Air waves, 2 Extreme Verticals AND 2 golden hour Speed Retrieves!Limited onsite camping will also be available. You don't want to miss it!

🗓️ Registration Dates:

- 5/24-5/30: Early bird registration for CDD Member volunteers (check your email for the sign-up genius).
- 5/31-6/6: Early bird registration for Sister Club volunteers.
- 6/7-6/13: Registration open to ALL Chesapeake DockDogs Members.
- 6/14: Registration open to the General Public.

𝗪𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 💦

Featuring Oscar aka The Flying O!

After voluntarily 𝘴𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 off a diving board at the age of 2, his handlers, encouraged by friends, took a trip to Maggie Malick Wine Caves (CDD's former home dock), and that's quickly when The Flying O was born.

Oscar was a strong Iron Dog contender and DockDogs World Championship qualifier/competitor for several years. At the age of 7, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Only 2 months after surgery, he was medically cleared to compete at that year's World Championships, a moment his handlers will forever cherish.

At the end of last season, Oscar's tumor returned. Due to his exceptional strength and fitness, the vets predicted a positive outcome with a second surgery and chemo. Last weekend, Oscar competed at our Hops on the Dock with Best Friends Fur Ever event, proudly taking home 4th Place in Veteran/Legend/Hero Finals and reminding everyone why he is The Flying O!

When Oscar is not soaring off the dock, you can likely find him on the FastCAT track ( #1 fastest Portuguese Water Dog x3, ESPN feature for America's Fastest Dogs) or in the water for Portuguese Water Dog Water Trials!

This boy is a true fighter and we hope to see more of The Flying O this season!
