In just a few weeks, CCDP will be hosting (or rather, joining) its first Community Outing by attending the St. Johns Concert in the Park series on June 17.
We will meet at 6:45 p.m. near the Main Pavilion, the brick structure just southwest of the performance shell, before finding a place on the lawn. One of our members will have a small American flag in hand so you know where to find us. In order to preserve the nonpartisan nature of the event, we are asking attendees to not wear CCDP apparel.
Parking is available within the park. Attendees who wish to sit, may bring their own seating accommodations (lawn chairs/blankets).
We are looking forward to taking the evening to listen to some great music, enjoy the warm weather, and be amongst good company.

Thank you to all who joined us for our June monthly member meeting this evening!
We had a busy meeting with plenty of updates for members, including our scheduled July environmental cleanups, an update on our plan to attend the St. Johns Concerts in the Park series on June 17, as well as learned about a citizen-driven literacy initiative.
We were joined by a number of candidates and representatives from campaigns, including:
-Bob Pena, a candidate for the 28th State Senate District
-A representative for Ted J. Kilvington for Michigan State Senate, a candidate for the 28th State Senate District
-Hope Lovell, a current Lansing Community College Trustee running for reelection
-A representative from Matt Maasdam's campaign
-A representative from Bridget Brink's campaign
-A representative from William Lawrence for Congress campaign
We also heard an update from State Representative Penelope Tsernoglou's office regarding her recent removal from her appointed committees in the House as well as her upcoming community conversations. Re-Elect Dwight Washington Clinton County Commissioner also provided some updates and perspectives.
Our New Business portion of the meeting included a discussion on the current vs. recently-proposed processes for choosing MSU, UofM, and Wayne State Board of Trustees, a debrief on Congressman Barrett’s town hall, and President Trump’s dismantling of the Ocean Observatories Initiative.
As always, we value the involvement of our members in everything we do, and thank everyone for joining us tonight.

We've shared another blog on our website, this one courtesy of CCDP member Melany Mack, who urges us to embrace the "big tent" of the Democratic Party. As her piece mentions her support for a Congressional candidate, we remind readers that blogs reflect individual views and not those of CCDP as a whole, and that CCDP does not endorse primary candidates. We encourage everyone to learn about races this summer at every level and work for the candidates with whom you resonate the most. We will be a stronger party for it! https://clintoncodems.org/blog/f/big-tent-or-not
If you attend Blue Brigade meetings, you may have received notice that the meeting for tonight was cancelled. Our host, Gregory's Soul Food (2510 N Martin Luther King Jr Blvd) closes for our private meeting and relies on our considerable business on these meeting dates, for their restaurant, and staff hours/tips. If you can, please consider dining there or ordering takeout or soon, to help offset this loss of business and to thank them for their support.

Congressman Tom Barrett will be hosting a "live, interactive town hall" this evening, starting at 7:30pm. If you are signed up to receive his congressional office updates, you likely received an email this morning about it.
You can watch the event live on Facebook. His page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/RepTomBarrett.
