Yes, those are beach balls. In a church. On purpose. 🏖️

For our Summer Solstice service, Congregational Life Coordinator Yvette McDonnell invited the congregation into "a meditative moment of joyful play"—tossing colorful beach balls through the air to music, keeping them aloft as long as possible, then pausing in stillness when the music stopped.

"It doesn't cost anything to laugh and share in good community with friends and those that you love."

☀️ Every year at the summer solstice, something remarkable happens in our sanctuary. As the sun reaches its highest angle in the sky, it casts a dramatic shaft of light down the front wall—tracing the lines of the clerestory window above.

The Main Meeting Room was designed to be animated by nature's light throughout the year, to open the window metaphorically for spiritual reflection. But on the longest day of the year, nature's presence is emphatically visible.

MLUC Member Roderick Wolfson, who was the building's project architect in 1989, explained the phenomenon to the congregation during Sunday's summer solstice service.

Unitarian Univeralism is a faith for all people—regardless of who you are, what you hold dear, or who you love. Rev. John Morehouse, Senior Minister at Main Line Unitarian Church. 🌈

🌈✨ This past Saturday, MLUC's Welcoming Congregation Team brought the love to Delco Pride in Upper Darby.

They came bearing Pride Rocks painted by our congregation, and Glitter Blessings for anyone who stopped by:
"You are made of stardust, born of the infinite creativity of the universe. You are whole, holy, good, and loved. We rejoice and give thanks that you are shining your light in the world."

Because that's what it means to be a Welcoming Congregation. Not just a label—a commitment to showing up, year after year, with open arms and open hearts. 💛🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
Thank you to everyone on the Welcoming Congregation Team who made this happen. You ARE the welcome.

We're coming together on June 14!

Following our Annual Congregational Meeting, we're celebrating an end-of-year gathering and welcome to summer.

The entertainment: Love You To-A Tribute to the Beatles, a Beatles tribute band known for extended jams, mashups, and uniquely arranged live versions of classics like "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Come Together," "Hey Jude," and "Here Comes the Sun." No costumes, no gimmicks—just the music, done beautifully.

Plus: a BBQ, a potluck spread from your Board of Trustees, strawberry shortcake, games, and childcare throughout the afternoon.

Meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. The celebration follows, running until 2:00 p.m. All are welcome—members may vote.

Today MLUC joined thousands in downtown Media for the Delaware County Pride Parade—rainbow socks, rainbow fans, and one very good dog. To every q***r and trans person in Delco and beyond: your joy is sacred, your dignity is inherent, and you will never have to march alone. 🌈
