Detroit Dog Rescue

Like every shelter, we are absolutely in need of space and desperately need fosters. Even when we close intake, dogs are left at our door, dumped in our alley, and we’ve even had kittens dumped in our flower pots. Closing for space, like many no-kill shelters, isn’t really an option in Detroit. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

We need reprieve. This weekend’s adoption event at City of Cars in Troy, MI is a great way to meet dogs who need adoption or a foster home.
has supported for well over a decade and we’re excited for another great event, but we need your help. Please help spread the word, share this post, and advocate for the dogs who need a place to lay their head and hearts.

I’m potty trained- cuz I’m super smarto, I like dog friends, I’ve never met a cat, but I hear they are cool -kind of weird they p**p in a box, but my foster mom and dad are raising me to respect my friends’ differences.

I’m soft, I’m cuddly, and I’m a big Detroit Lions fan! Jahmyr Gibbs is my favorite player.

💧 UPDATE: Thank you to those of you who sent water! As of 2:45pm on Wednesday we are all sent with the orders being sent it. We can’t than you enough for rallying for us. If this problem persists through Friday we will let everyone know!

🚨 HEEELP We need WATER!
There is a water main break on Grand River and they turned our water off! We need water dropped off at the shelter.

Is there anyone who can drop jugs of water off at our shelter door TODAY!? We are short staffed today and in the back working with the dogs. If you can drop jugs of water at our door that would be amazing. We need A LOT of water.

Found running the streets! We’ve taken in this girl who was found roaming . We’ve named her Eloise and we are in love with her little bat wing ears. 🦇

Like all of the dogs we take in she will need a full medical work up and we will be asking for a foster soon!

👏 We have a $3,000 match for surgical costs for the next 72 hours and we desperately need to fulfill this match for Miley.

She’s only a puppy and all she’s known is pain.

We know surgery will cost $6000+, but a loving, regular donor, who is also a doctor and cares for people, wants to help this puppy. Thank you angel donor!
We are maxed out on surgical costs right now. We’ve had to repair so many knees and hips on dogs we’ve taken in over the summer and we really need some help. We can’t do it all and we definitely can’t do it alone. We need our army.

PLEASE, PLEASE, we have to meet this match by this time on Wednesday or we only will receive what we raise. We know we can crush this!
We know with gas prices, groceries and the cost of living all soaring, we are asking a lot, but when we look at Miley, and see the pain she’s always known, we know we can all skip one drive-thru order this week and do this!

👏Meet Dee! We also call her DEE-DEE, Dootles and Da Best Puppy! She needs a home so keep reading!

A shelter is no place for a young dog like Dee. She wants to see all of the things, smell all the smells, and zoomie in her own backyard.
Dee is hilarious and she’ll keep you laughing. If you love to go for walks, go for hikes, or are active she’s your girl, but she also likes to snuggle for movie night. We aren’t sure of her exact mix, but there is probably some American Black Lab, a pinch of Vizsla in her, and a lot of good girl.

Dee is about a year old and she’s ready for to find her human(s). She does well with other dogs who enjoy her playfulness. She may be a little too curious for cats at this puppy stage -but that could change, and she’d be okay with kids who can respect her.
