Introducing Neria Williams (AKA "Cat")(pronouns: she/her), Detroit REPRESENT!'s newest Organizing Director! Cat has been with Detroit REPRESENT! since 2016, and during her tenure with the organization, she has launched multiple successful campaigns, even while overcoming incredible odds in her own life. Cat is a brilliant speaker and community advocate. She is kind to all she meets, with a huge heart, and she is passionate about social justice work, at both the local- and national levels.

Cat identifies as bisexual, a city-living person, a Black q***r femme, and an aspiring trans ally. She is eager to get DR! back up and running after a pandemic and personal struggles kept our collective out of the game for over a year.

Her vision for the future of DR! is to maintain the organization's mission of creating by-us, for-us media stories from the perspective of Detroit's QTPOC youth. She hopes to add to this vision her passion for accessibility, and making this collectively-run organization an empowering space for youth facing incredible struggles to grow and build community together.

Cat is supported by founding advisors, Marky Carrillo and Lance Hicks.

Because we've been out of the game for so long, we haven't been applying for grants lately. We will return to seeking funding soon; but in the short-term, please consider a donation through our fiscal sponsor, Allied Media Projects, to allow Cat and the rest of our new crew the chance to have a kickin' kick-off! "May Day is not just important to workers with citizenship, but to every worker. [Our] struggles are connected, and working together is necessary to create a better world.

[We are] worthy of dignity [and] respect. In this way, our collective liberation is at stake on a day like May Day. This May Day, we would like you to consider the often underrepresented members of our collective struggle: LGBTQ immigrants [who are largely of color]."
