The Two Way Inn is the oldest bar in Detroit and has been selling spirits since at least 1876 without stop (and even through prohibition so says the historians of the Detroit Historical Museum). We may not be the oldest building or house that can sell alcohol, and we may have only had this place in our family since 1973 but the establishment that is the Two Way Inn surely has the longest run of legally and illegally selling drinks to the thirsty for over 140 years. Celebrating 150 years
Experience the evolution of time at the Two Way Inn, circa 1915.
100 years ago, Model T's rolled down Mount Elliott Street, the building to the left has a banner that reads 'ICE CREAM.' The sign above the bar door to the right displays the words 'GROCERY and SALOON.' PHILLIP VANNECK's name stands out on the awning as the Norris Line track runs down the center of the road. While the world outside has undergone significant changes, the interior of this establishment remains a remarkable link to the past.
