Sheriff Raphael Washington and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office want to remind everyone: no moment of anger behind the wheel is worth a life.

Road rage can turn a routine drive into a tragedy in seconds. Choose patience. Give yourself extra time. Let the other car go. Because when you get behind the wheel, someone is waiting for you to make it home safely.

Drive responsibly. Protect yourself, your passengers, and our community.

Deputy Johnson recently joined local seniors for an important conversation on senior scams and fraud prevention. As scammers continue finding new and creative ways to target older adults, education and awareness remain one of the best tools to help keep our community safe.

During the session, Deputy Johnson shared tips on what to look out for, common scam tactics, and ways seniors and their loved ones can better protect themselves from fraud.

If your organization, senior group, church, or community center would like a senior scam awareness presentation, we would be happy to come out and provide information and resources to help keep your community informed and safe.

Deputy Brudzinski has been named our Deputy of the Month, and it’s well deserved.

Day in and day out, he shows up with a steady presence, a strong work ethic, and a real commitment to the people he serves. Whether it’s responding to calls, supporting his fellow deputies, or taking the extra time to make sure a situation is handled the right way, Deputy Brudzinski represents what this job is all about.

His professionalism, reliability, and dedication don’t go unnoticed. He leads by example and continues to make a positive impact across our community and within our department.

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Brudzinski on this recognition and thanking him for the work he puts in every single day.

If it sounds like easy money, it’s likely a scam.

We’re seeing more cases where scammers are asking for cryptocurrency to “fix” problems like job offers, computer issues, warrants, or even bank security. No legitimate business or agency will ever require payment this way.

Take a moment to verify before you trust. It can save you from losing more than just money.

Online love shouldn’t cost you.

Not every profile is who they say they are. In some cases, these scams are being run by individuals who are currently incarcerated, using phones or outside contacts to build fake relationships and ask for money.

They move fast emotionally, avoid meeting in person, and eventually ask for transfers or deposits. That’s not love, that’s a setup.

No real relationship requires financial proof.

If something feels off, trust it. Stop the conversation and reach out. We’re here to protect and support our community.
