Celebrating a century of architectural brilliance, Book Tower stands as a testament to Detroit’s enduring spirit and the meticulous craftsmanship of a seven-year historic restoration by ODA. Originally completed in 1926 by the Book Brothers, this Louis Kamper designed masterpiece has been brought back to life after sitting vacant for over a decade.

The care behind its restoration is visible throughout. It shows in thousands of hand-painted ceiling tiles and reinstalled marble, along with 29 restored caryatids and 2,483 windows designed in keeping with the building’s original architecture.

In The Rotunda, a three-story atrium rises to an art-glass skylight composed of more than 7,000 glass jewels and 6,000 glass panels set within a copper-plated brass matrix. The revival has reestablished Book Tower as a beloved part of downtown Detroit and earned recognition with a 2026 AIA New York State Design Award.

Raise a glass to 100 years of Book Tower with the Centennial Celebration, a specialty cocktail now available at Bar Rotunda through the end of the month. 🥂

This gin-based cocktail blends strawberry amaro, egg white, vanilla and fresh lemon juice for a light, celebratory sip. It’s finished with a delicate dusting of dehydrated strawberry powder. A fitting toast to a century of Book Tower!
