She arrived with her siblings. Within moments dress-up clothes were flying and she had everyone putting on princess dresses. She found a lace cape outfit perfect for twirling, watched High School Musical 2, and sang in the most beautiful voice! Despite twirling, fashion shows, and musicals, she shared how much she missed her mom, and wanted to dress up and go trick-or-treating. Thankfully, Isaiah 117 House specializes in lavish love, and we have a few tricks and treats up our sleeve!

She was floored when she found “reverse” trick-or-treating came to her! Outside our red door appeared all her favorites - Cheetos, Doritos, donuts, cotton candy, straw tumbler with Disney princesses, glow sticks, and a pumpkin bucket with her favs! Even her siblings got the reverse trick-or-treat[ment] with cups, treats, and toys picked just for them! When she asked to pour her drink into the new tumbler, we gleefully gave it a quick wash and filled it to the top!

We brought our guest a backpack for her reverse trick-or-treat loot and she announced, “It’s like I’m going to school! I don’t have a backpack!” and couldn’t believe she got to take it with her and she proudly wore her new backpack around the house. Disappointment from earlier gave way to cries of “This is the BEST day ever!” Our volunteer suggested she wear her costume with the cape as she headed to placement. Our friend’s arms flew around the volunteer’s waist with another “BEST. DAY. EVER.”! And that’s what we do. We turn a really hard and confusing removal day into the best day ever.
