Yesterday, was my last day with the sweetest little family! I had the honor of supporting this family, thanks to referrals from 2 other adorable postpartum families we've supported a while back!😍 It melts my heart, when I hear that families immediately tell their friends to call "Jacquelyne" at Wild Roots Birth Collective , she'll take care of you!" Here's today's "A Day in the Life of a Wild Roots Birth Collective Postpartum Doula ". .... featuring Terri Jones 🥰

So Terri arrives around 1pm, greets the family and of course the adorable fur baby, Rosie. She is so excited to see the doulas come to visit! 🥰😂

Terri played trains with the 2yr old, got the bottles set up and started them washing, then changed, fed and snuggled baby, and Rosie, while the mama napped her her toddler. 😁

Next was to get the laundry started, and was the dishes, while having a conversation with the baby. It was once again time to change the diaper feed the baby and get her to sleep. Terri managed to get the whole family's laundry done, another round of bottles washed and then it was time for her to start cooking.

Mom and toddler woke up, as Terri was putting the food in the oven, so mama got some much needed play time with the toddler. It's hard juggling like with 2 in the early months of postpartum. So getting some time to just the two of them is so needed and special. ❤️

Once the food was done, Terri held the baby, so our mama could enjoy a meal uninterrupted! We know how rarely that happens, so its nice when we do get to be there to help!

Terri gave the baby a little spa treatment with a bath and a massage, while mama bathed big brother.

It was quite a good day, everyone was clean, had clean clothes to wear, their bellies full, lots of snuggles and love and it was time for Terri to leave.

It's a good feeling knowing you are leaving the family in a much better place and you know this mama will rest good tonight. 🥰

What does a typical postpartum day shift look like at a Wild Roots Birth Collective ?

Well, this morning started bright and early. I arrived at 7:15am. I made a lunch for a little one going to camp, then got the breast pump set up for mama, then to over baby care while mama got a shower and snuggles in with their older child. I fed baby and got her to sleep, and got started on laundry, unloaded the bottle sterilizer, made some beds, cleaned up some toys, loaded the dishwasher, fed baby again and did play time, then when she went on the mat, I started meal prepping for the next 2 days. We did the feeding baby, play time, nap time, laundry, meal prep on repeat. 😁

I worked on prepping a hearty salad with roasted carrots, cooked farrow, snow peas, arugula and a spicy Tahini sauce, I roasted some beets, and made a pasta & vegan pesto dish, with fresh tomatoes. It made me happy to see all the pretty colors and food prepared for this little family!

This mama's meal ideas were such great, hearty, nutritious choices! I enjoyed every bit of prepping and preparing it. Cooking is one of my love languages, so I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the kitchen!

Because women carry babies in their womb for 9 months, go through labor, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding....she DESERVES TO BE held, nurtured, nourished, listened too, to be validated, for her body to be massaged to promote healing, to rest and bond with baby, and to not feel guilty... she absolutely deserves to be cared for in such a sacred way!🧡🧡🧡

Our bodies are temples and the portal to life.... and so she most definitely deserves to be supported with this level of care!

My name is Jacquelyne Livengood, I am the owner of Wild Roots Birth Collective, and I am that deeply passionate about supporting women! As a mom of 6, I understand so deeply how a mother should be cared for. I believe so strongly about this, that I even created a training program for those who are ready to support women on a much deeper level! I have poured over 10 months into creating this, implementing it with the families we've supported in postpartum, and we have seen first hand how this impacts a mother's mental, emotional and physical well-being for the better, they are struggling far less with postpartum depression and anxiety.

The mama's we've cared for say that they believe having that weekly interaction, knowing someone is there with them to talk to, for them to be allowed to express what their feeling without shame or guilt, and just being there to listen, offer encouragement, making sure they're eating nourishing food, staying hydrated, encouraging getting some self-care, kidding some time outside in the sunshine, taking naps and resting, during the weekly massage.... That's all helps peomote healing, and allowing their body to feel safe and supported.... and of course we have therapists and resources on hand to refer clients to, when they do need that support! 🥰

I was talking with Maddi & Alyssa from Woven Within Birth Collective and they were so incredibly sweet and offered to open the Lounge for us this week, since our doulas at Wild Roots Birth Collective will be crazy busy with postpartum and on-call for births. 🥰

We love that we can reach out, whether we need back up for births, postpartum or need The Motherhood Lounge opened, we have that relationship of trust and rapport with each other. Around here its collaboration over competition. 🫶

At Wild Roots, we are intentional about the births we take. We don't see births as a number to rack up...it's about the commitment to care we give.🫶

We show up in person. To teach hands-on comfort techniques, to sit with you, to build real trust... not just virtually or video chat. That's how we prepare together for one of the most important moments of your life.

And that philosophy doesn't end when your baby arrives.
At Wild Roots we offer true continuity of care, from birth all the way through 6 months postpartum. The same team that holds your hand in the birth room can show up at 2am when you're exhausted, do your laundry, hold your baby, make you a meal, give you the most relaxing massage before bed, and sit with you in the hard moments. That's who we are at Wild Roots. That's a relationship.

We keep getting messages from mamas who had a doula for birth, that supposedly offers postpartum, but these mamas are now weeks postpartum, exhausted, overwhelmed, and reaching out to us because they still need real, in person, hands on support. So, our answer is yes, we will come support you!
