May Day has been designated as a General Strike Day. This is a follow up to the No Kings Days. General strike calls for No Work, School, or Shopping.

Indivisible co-founder Leah Greenberg said that the goal of the nationwide strike action would be to send "a clear message: we demand a government that invests in our communities, not one that enriches billionaires, fuels endless war, or deploys masked agents to intimidate our neighbors."

Since May 1 is traditionally recognized as International Workers Day, connecting economic justice with militarism is a good focus.

Meet at the Iowa City Pentacrest (21 N. Clinton Street) at 2:30 PM to march to the Ped Mall Stage area for music, prayer, and a Call to Action at 2:45 PM.

Please bring palms and signs in support of the message of Matthew 25 and avoid messages of hate or opposition. Clergy are invited to vest in the manner and color their tradition uses on Palm Sunday.

Rain site is Trinity Episcopal Church, 320 E. College Street, Iowa City.

Sun., March 29, Des Moines. The Palm Sunday Walk for Peace will begin at 2:30 at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, and goes to the Capitol, where a Gathering, "Standing with our Neighbors," will be held.

Join us at 7 pm for the Palm Sunday Prayer Service for Peace, to lament the terrible losses of war, and to re-commit to working for the cause of peace at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3600 75th Street in Urbandale.

Sat., March 21, Des Moines, AFSC/ Quaker led Vigil at 11 am, 42nd and Grand. Afterwards, we will gather downstairs for food and fellowship.
