While I am a staunch Dem, the Iowa legislative session--although ungodly long--kind of reminded me of a mediation. I wish Gov. Branstad (R) would have acquiesced to full Medicaid expansion but elated that indigent kids are covered under his modified plan.
How do you measure success as a mediator? Resolution? Sure. But when you are dealing with indignant clients, authentic communication--in my humble opinion--is the true measure of a successful mediation.
