REMEMBERING THE 2016 IRAN SAILOR INCIDENT 🚨
In January 2016, 10 U.S. Navy sailors were detained by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after their patrol boats entered Iranian territorial waters near Farsi Island in the Persian Gulf. Images later broadcast on Iranian state television showed the sailors kneeling with their hands behind their heads — footage that sparked outrage across the United States. 🇺🇸
At the time, President Barack Obama’s administration said the sailors had experienced navigational issues and unintentionally crossed into Iranian waters. Diplomatic channels were used to secure their release, and the service members were freed within roughly 15 hours. U.S. officials described the resolution as a success of direct communication between governments, while critics called the public images a humiliation and a sign of weakened deterrence.
The incident occurred during the early implementation phase of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the nuclear agreement negotiated between Iran and world powers. Opponents of the deal argued the detention undermined claims that the agreement would moderate Iran’s behavior. Supporters countered that the quick diplomatic resolution demonstrated the value of open communication lines.
Years later, supporters of President Donald Trump have contrasted that episode with his administration’s more confrontational posture toward Iran, including withdrawal from the nuclear deal and targeted military actions against Iranian leadership figures. They argue that a stronger deterrence posture restores respect on the global stage. Others caution that escalating military responses carry their own risks and consequences.
The 2016 sailor detention remains a defining moment in the broader debate over diplomacy versus deterrence, strength versus restraint, and how the United States projects power abroad.

For the first time in history, both the U.S. men’s and women’s ice hockey teams won gold medals at the same Olympic Winter Games! But I guess not all of the country feels the same sense of patriotic pride. Should we expect more upside down flags and protests from the left when our athletes come home from Milano?

This party can't be the ones to lead us forward in the future...we need to break the left's stranglehold on NH's representation in Washington.

I firmly believe that the way NH pivots back to center - away from the far left policies that don't represent the majority of us in the Granite State and have left us vulnerable - is to coalesce around a candidate that knows how to get results, is not beholden to special interests and has the resources to help us break free of the stranglehold that the national Democratic Party as had on this state for the past decade. I encourage everyone to listen to what Anthony DiLorenzo for Congress has to say and I think you will come to the same conclusion.
